moddays and tagdays

Hey, kids. I'm sure most of you haven't noticed yet, but I'm in the process of tagging all of the fic entries in this community to make it easier for readers to find stories by character or pairing. (It's been a kick reading some of these old posts--I got to relive the horror fun of the One False Pairing challenge.)

I hope everyone who posts fic in the future will make use of the tags function to label their fics. I'm sorry it took me so long to realize that, hey, this might actually be a good idea! But better late than never, right?

A few points on the subject:

1. In the interest of time, I have not been reading all of the fics completely. I've been pulling main characters/pairings from either a summary or a quick skim of the fic. If I've tagged your fic inaccurately, please, by all means, change it.

2. When tagging by character, please only tag the most prominent characters in the story, not every single character who appears.

3. When tagging by pairing, please follow this guideline. For a male/female pairing, list the names male-first/female-second (example: "Syaoran/Sakura"). For a male/male or female/female pairing, please list the names alphabetically (examples: "Eriol/Syaoran" or "Meiling/Tomoyo"). Rather than get into a debate on relationship dynamics and which order they should really be in, I've made this arbitrary decision for the sole purpose of avoiding redundant tags ("Meiling/Tomoyo", "Tomoyo/Meiling"). Please, just one tag per pairing.

4. Also from the arbitrary files.... Fics featuring one or more Cards should just be tagged as "Cards", rather than each individual Card. Fics featuring Kero-chan/Cerberus in any form or time period should just be tagged as "Kero", and fics featuring Nakuru/Ruby Moon in any form or time period should just be tagged as "Nakuru". All other characters are tagged by their given names except "Yamazaki" and "Terada" as they seem to be more commonly referred to by family names than given names. Again, this is to avoid redundancy. If enough people would rather it be done differently, we can discuss it, but I felt it necessary to make a call.

5. When going through entries from 2004, I found many broken links. Some were to personal pages, but most were to ff.net. Sometime in 2004, ff.net changed the address format for story pages. If you posted in 2004, please go through your entries and make sure all links are valid if you'd like your stories to be easily accessible to new readers.

6. If you use a tag to read stories and find one you particularly enjoy, please leave a comment for the author. I know some of these stories are old, but writers always love to hear that someone liked their story.

I don't say it enough, so here's a big THANK YOU to everyone who has posted their writing and made this community so great with their time, talent, and creativity. It's been such a pleasure rediscovering some truly amazing stories these past few days, and I think we have the highest quality fics you could ever hope to find. (And now maybe they'll be easier to find!)

Thanks to all of you who were here in the beginning, and thanks to all of you who have joined since.

As always, if you have any questions/suggestions/etc, please leave a comment below.
