I sighed as I walked on the route. The wind blowed softly and it calmed my mind. I like it the most when it's summer. I stop at a small shop to buy an ice-cream. The weather is really hot, an ice-cream would be awesome. After paying the ice-cream I walked out from the shop.
11.35 am, that's what my watch shows. Taking the mini mirror in my bag, i fixed my hair. I glance at my watch once again and smiled. I walked past the pet shop slowly while enjoying my ice-cream. My eyes were wandering around the place and stopped when I saw him few meters away riding his blue bicycle. He stopped at the pet shop just like what I've predict. Clutching on my bag tightly, I took a deep breath and act normally by entering the pet shop and when to the rabbit section.
"Oh..Yamada-kun..you came again.." I heard an old man, the pet shop owner, talked to him. "What can I help you now?" The owner adds on.
"Cookie's food had finished. I need a new pack, Maoru-san." He answered with the smile on his face. The smile that makes my heart melts.
"Are? Isn't you just buy it yesterday?"
He tilted his head a bit and rubbed his nape. Sometimes, I'm confused to say him cool because he also can be a cute guy. A chuckle then released by the pet shop owner.
"I'll bring it to you.."
He nodded and waits for the owner.
There are only a few people inside the shop. It was a bit quiet. Only the animal sound can be heard. I saw him walked to the turtle section and looking the reptiles. A sighed then escape from his mouth. He seems to have a problem. Does want that turtle? Before my mind thought more, he already walked to hamster section, which is next to rabbit section. My heartbeat increase and my hands sweating.
He walks slowly while watching the small creature. I think my legs will become a jelly anytime now or worst collapse? For tune's sake...he's walk nearing me! I keep my eyes to the rabbit in the cage while calming my breath down. Biting my lips, I prevent myself collapse.

He's getting near and near until...my phone rang. What the?! Why should it ring now??!!
I look at the screen and saw Miyu, my sister’s, number.
"Moshi-moshi..."
'Nee-chan! Come home now! Mami-chan is here!!'
I need to put my phone away from my ear when Miyu talking.
'Oh! Mami-chan bought me new shoes!'
"Mou..Miyu..can you please talk normally? I might get deaf if you talk like that everydays!....okay..okay..I'm going home now.."
I sighed before I call off the phone. Walking to the exit door, I passed him once again but he was busy looking at the hamster.
Yamada Ryosuke. That's his name. The guy that I secretly in love with. I heard from the pet-shop owner when he calls him. He's a regular customer for the shop. He'll be here thrice a week. The first time I saw him is when I stop in front of photo shop on a raining day with Umika's puppy, Vanilla, last year. I supposed to sent Vanilla home that time but, the rain keep on pouring. And then that's where my mind attached with his face and his voice. I still remember it clearly when he sings that song.
I’ve been watching him for almost a year yet I never have any guts to talk to him. Am I a stalker? I think so. But hey! Blame him for making me falling in love so hard.
“Oi! Mirai! Are you sick?” My cousin talked to me.
Oh! I almost forgot about her. So, here am I sitting on my bed having a chit-chat with my cousin.
“Gomen..I’m having too much thought..” As I apologize to Mami and I took the juice before drink it.
“Are you in love?”
Mami’s word caused me to spill out my drink. I stare at her with a wide eyes while she, she just look at me with a smirk on her face. I sighed and place the glass back to the table. All of sudden, Mami become excited and jump to sit beside me.
“Whose that guy? Do I know him? Is he from your class? Oh! Could it be that Ryusei guy??” Mami throw me a bunch of question.
“I’m not telling you and you don’t know him. He’s not from my class and he is not Ryusei!”
I pouted. She chuckled and stares me deeply until I feel a goosebump.
“You stalk him!!”
My blonde hair cousin accused me. My eyes widen. Did she saw me all these time?!
“Busted~!”
“I-I didn’t s-stalk him! I-I just watch him I mean accidently me him by chance!”
Oh Mirai! Calm down! Yeah, Great now, Mami look more excited and believe me , she can be a bad girl when she’s being hyper.
And just like what I’ve thought! The next morning she barge into my room with her guitar to wake me up. I heard lots of stuff that coming out from her mouth.
“Can you tell me what exactly your mind thinking now? And what ever it is, I never gonna agree with you!”
I told Mami while looking at her eating an ice-cream. Apparently, we’re now at the park. Sitting, no! WAITING for someone. I don’t know what on earth she had planned but I’m definitely sure that it’ll kills me.
“I’m going!”
As I announced it but Mami grab my wrist and pulled me to seat on the bench next to her.
“You can’t go home now. Not until you tell me who the guy is.”
She put the sadistic smile on her face. I hate this! She then wandering her eyes all over the place, staring to each guy that passed the park.
“Is that he?” She asked while pointing a guy who’s eating, continues to a guy who’s jogging and so on.
I sighed and groaned as Mami keep on ask about it.
“Oh! Is it the guy with the bicycle?”
I quickly glance to her as she pointed to one particular guy. And it’s him. I didn’t say anything but only stares him pedal his bicycle passed us.
“So...that’s him~”
An evil voice talked and it snapped me back to reality. I swear I saw my cousin eyes filled with something fishy. I mean more like something bad.
“Let’s greet him!”
“Wait! Wha-“
I didn’t manage to finish my words when Mami already drag me with her.
“Mami! W-wait! S-stop!”
This is disaster!
Both of us entered the pet-shop. Well, more like Mami drag me in. I choose to stay at my usual spot, the rabbit section while Mami, she just walked close to him. I sighed heavily. This is worst.
“Arh!! Kawaii~! Mirai look at this hamster!”
I heard my name being called. Yeah, great! She’s calling me to go to her. I took a deep breath and released a heavily sighed before went to her direction. My hands are sweating and my heart is beating faster.
I forced myself to smile and look at the small little creature. I hope he won’t hear it beating. Just when I was about to pulled Mami out from the shop, she suddenly do something that really out my mind.
“She’s just afraid of hamster..”
Mami chuckled while talking to him. Like seriously! SHE’S TALKING TO HIM. And worst she’s deriding me in front of him!
A soft chuckle.
“That’s cute.”
I feel like I’m flying now. He just say that I’m cute. Well, I’ll forgive Mami for now.
“Are you buying a hamster?”
Mami started the talk. She pulled me to stand next in between them. I just hope he didn’t hear anything from.
“Uh..kind off...”
He answered while scratching his nape lightly. Both of them talked while me, I’m just being stupidly quiet and listen to their talks.
“Ya’know..we’ve talked quiet long but I still don’t know your name..oh..I’m Mami and this is Mirai, my cousin.”
I smile when Mami introduce me to him.
“I’m Ry-“
Before he manage to say out his name someone called his name.
“Ryo-chan!”
Out from nowhere a girl suddenly came and hugs him in front of me. I feel my heart being stabbed by thousand of knifes. I saw him blushing. Both, Mami and I, were startled with the view.
“Su-suzuka..”
“I’ve been searching you everywhere! Your mom told me that you’re out to a pet-shop! I miss you so much, Ryo-chan!!”
My heart feel so hurt as I saw the girl named Suzuka kissed his cheek while he, he just blushed and smile awkwardly to us. Mami turned her eyes to me and there’s a guilt feeling on her eyes.
“I-I guess both of us should go now ne, Mami-chan?”
I glance at my cousin and forced my lips to smile. Mami loss her words for awhile before compose herself and nodded her head.
At the end, I got rejected without even confessing my feeling to him. I walked ahead and leave Mami alone at the back. I guess she felt guilt about it.
“Mirai...I...”
She holds my wrist and facing me. I smiled and shrugged my head showing that its okay but my eyes betray me so do my tears. It flowed down on my cheek. Is this how unrequited love feels like? Why does it hurt so much?
Ever since that day, I never enter to the shop again. It still hurt me so much as I have to walked passed it when I’m going to school or even back from school. Sometimes I saw him inside the shop, waiting for someone. I know I’m not supposed to say this, but somehow, deep inside my heart I want him to myself. May be his just not the guy that I’m fated with. Perhaps I should forget him and love another person. But I can’t. I’m not capable to lie on myself saying that I can move on. He’s my first love after all and probably my last.
Two weeks have passed and it also been two weeks for Mirai to stop coming to the pet-shop. Every day after school, she’ll go to Hyogo River, the place where she calmed and clear out her messed mind.
While sitting on the green grass, she looked at the flowing river. A sighed escaped from her lips and a sad smile formed.
“How I wish I’m a river..so that I can flowed continuously without being hurt..”
The soft wind brush her cheek and she closed her eyes to flashed his face.
“How have you been now?”
Mirai open her eyes and gaze the river once again. A sighed released again for nth times. She never stops thinking about him.
Her phone buzzing and she look at the screen. It’s a message from Miyu.
From : Miyu :P
Nee-chan~! Mami-chan bought us sushi!
Get home now or I’ll eat all of it! :P
A smile carved on her lips as she read the message. She stood up and dust of her skirt. Walking down the route her mind keeps on thinking about him until someone called her name. Mirai stopped her track and turn her head to see the person and the next thing caused her heart beating faster. He’s standing just about ten steps away from her.
“Mirai, right?”
The guy asked. Mirai lost her words and nodded her head hesitantly. The latter then smile relief and drag his bicycle closer to Mirai.
“It’s been awhile since we meet..”
He talked while showing his smile.
“Eh? Uh..yeah..”
“How have you been?”
“Urm..ma~ just fine.. H-how about you?”
“I fine..”
A pause as both of them lost their words.
“Oh..I didn’t manage to introduce myself last time...I’m Ryosuke, by the way.”
He smiled and offers his hand for a shake. Mirai stare it for awhile before took it nervously. She retrieve her hand after a few second.
“I..haven’t seen you quite a long time at Maoru shop...”
He started the talks. Both of them were now walking next to each other with three steps away.
“I..I’m busy with school stuff this lately..so..yeah..haven’t go to that shop for awhile..”
Another silence. Both of them walked past the pet-shop.
“Hey..wanna get in?”
Ryosuke tried to break the silence.
“G-gomen..but I need to get home early today..”
She apologized. The truth is, Mirai really want to go there with him but thinking about the incident back then, her mind tell herslf to declined it.
“Oh..souka...”
There’s a hint of disappointment on his words.
“Ah..then let me walk you home..you took Narashi route right?”
He added on.
Mirai eyes were wide and she look at Ryosuke disbelief.
“H-how did you k-know it?”
“Eh? I..I’m..I’m just guessing it. It is true?”
He cracked an awkward laugh. Mirai smile awkward in return and nodded her head. At the end, Ryosuke walked Mirai until she reach in front of her house.
Both of them stand in front of each other awkwardly and none of them utter a word until Mirai decide to enter her house.
“Thanks for walking me home....jaa ne..”
She formed a smile and walked to her house but stopped when a cold and wet hand grabbed her wrist. Ryosuke had just grabbed her hand.
“A-anoo...”
He started. Mirai can feel the trembling grip on her hand.
“C-can I have your number?”
“Eh?”
He inhale and exhale deeply.
“I-I know this is sudden and you never really know about me..but all this time, I’ve been watching you. “
He stops for awhile and took out a rabbit phone strap and handed it to Mirai.
“You always watch the rabbit at Maoru-san shop. I figure out that you must love it..I bought it..f-for you..”
Mirai blinked her eyes for a few times and stares the phone strap.
“I..I like you.”
Silence.
. . .
. . .
. . .
. . .
“Heh?”
Mirai gaze the guy the stand in front of her.
“W-what did you said just now?”
“I-I like you..”
He answered somehow, the nervous feeling getting worst.
“Y-you like me? B-but why?”
She can’t help but to asked.
“W-well...I don’t know...my heartbeat increased when I saw you...and my mind never stop thinking about you...and it’s just simply because I like..no.... I’ve fall in love with you...so...w-would you..be my girlfriend?”
Mirai was left speechless once again. The guy that she loves was now telling her that he fall in love with her. Is this a dream, she thought about it. But wait! Something is wrong!
“W-what? You? W-when I mean how can you lo- urh..likes me when you have a girlfriend..”
Ryosuke raised his eyebrow and blinked confusedly.
“G-girlfriend? I..I never have a girlfriend..”
“Eh? How about the other day? The cute girl that kissed you.”
She asked curiously.
“Su-suzuka?? She’s not my girlfriend..she’s my cousin.”
“Eh? C-cousin?”
A nod followed with a long awkward silence.
“Are you...by any chances...stop coming to Maoru-san shop because of Suzuka?”
Ryosuke finally break the awkward moment by asking Mirai.
She lost her words once again and averted her eyes from Ryosuke to some random things. A smile then lines on Ryosuke lips as he saw Mirai’s nervous act.
“Are we..by any chances..have a mutual feelings?
Her cheeks change like a cooked crab. Ryosuke chuckled on her.
“You’re cute when you’re blushing..”
It didn’t help her at all but only to make her become worst.
“M-mou..stop it! I’m going in!”
She announced her leave but Ryosuke caught her wrist.
“You haven’t answer my question yet...”
He smile warmly and stares her eyes lovingly.
“W-what question?”
She asked Ryosuke back. The latter then smile and took her hand.
“Would you be my girlfriend?”
A silence again. Both of them shares a deep gazing to each other eyes while holding hands. It continue for a few moment until someone scream out to them.
“GOSH! MIRAI JUST ANSWER IT YES! AND YOU YAMADA-KUN JUST KISS HER!”
Both, Mirai and Ryosuke, darted their eyes to Mirai house. A long blonde hair girl was standing at the front door while crossing her hands on her chest. Behind her, another two lady which is , Miyu and Mrs. Shida giggling on them. Mirai groaned blushingly as she saw the three peoples.
“So...your family want’s you to say yes..any objection?”
Ryosuke asked the blushed girl.
“well....since you’ve got the agreement from them..I guess...yes?”
A wide smile carved on his face. He move closer to Mirai and pulled her into his embrace. May be she’s wrong about her fate and now she believes that Yamada Ryosuke is her fated person.
Omake:
“So, you’re saying that all these time you went to that pet shop just to meet me??”
Mirai asked her newly boyfriend disbelieves. Ryosuke nodded his head and chuckled on Mirai’s behaviour.
“I can’t believe this! To think that you go there just to meet me..and having such difficult time to talk with me...watching me secretly...oh my god...”
She palmed her blushed face. Mirai sure that she’s the happiest girl on earth after what Ryosuke told her.
“I should thank to you cousin for talking to me that day. If not, I won’t be able to confess to you.”
A smirk formed on her face. Looks like she owed her a big thing.
“Ya’know what...the reason I went to that shop not because I like the rabbit tough..but it’s because I want to see you..”
