okay, this is a pretty short step, but it takes a while, can be somewhat annoying, and I wanted to separate it to cut down on confusion.
make your pattern for the curved gap of the circle part.
out of A SINGLE SHEET of 2mm craft foam...
cut two pieces.
glue one on. let cool.
then the other. *cue bad jokes about "flying away" or some crap*
tuck one down. glue in place. Again with the copious amounts of glue. This needs to fill in the gap. Did I mention COPIOUS?
And the other side. Does it look threatening yet?
and all of a sudden, I'm kinda glad I'm using contrasting colors! :3
So...that's all for tonight, I think.
Next step: blade core! If I don't get swept away by something else tonight, that'll probably become my mission. I'm finding myself on a roll tonight! WHEE!!
