nifty!
so last night i come home from scifi friday with theodosia and farwing, and there's this note by the phone that says jesse called to say congrats and was disappointed that i wasn't home. i look at the clock. it's 12:30. i think "probably too late to call back...." and then i think "what's he calling to congratulate me FOR?" because we kind of lost touch and haven't talked in, er, probably a year and a half. >.< and the only thing i can think of that's worth congratulating me for is keep you, but how does he know about that? because, you know, a year and a half ago it wasn't actually a novel, and i hadn't submitted it anywhere to be published. i figured maybe he googled my name, or knew about my lj - altho i didn't remember giving him the url - or there was always a chance he had an lj himself. (which i thought was unlikely, but you never know.) mostly i was kind of baffled.
so i called him back today and yes, he wanted to congratulate me on my book. ^_^ (and had considerately waited until the first bsg commercial break to call and do so.) because apparently i did give him my lj, because he occasionally drops by to read it, and that's how he knew. (hi jesse! say hi to the crazy nice folks here in lj-land!) which is pretty damn cool. we caught up for a little bit and i kind of babbled about the book and then he had to go.
(and coincidentally, i can now say that at least one straight male friend knows i write gay smut and hasn't run screaming. *does a little dance* )
unrelately, my cousin had a baby on monday and no one bothered to tell me. o.O my mom called today to say hi and mentioned it during the course of the conversation. oy. i was annoyed but i'm over it now.
