a. the barista at starbucks who used to look like orlando bloom but doesn't any more is left-handed. also he could use a haircut, and if I'M saying that? you know he does. :D also also, he's not bad-looking but orlando's prettier. my inner lizzie looks at him and thinks "hm, could use some work, got potential" (altho she thinks that about a lot of people) and my inner megan looks at him and thinks "you need a haircut." altho megan also thinks that about a lot of people - she's not the biggest fan of shaggy-haired boys.
b. the ancient romans apparently sent letters to each other on slats of wood tied together with string and sealed with wax. i don't know why i was surprised to read that they didn't use paper for their notes, but i was.... so it's highly unlikely that average folks in the romanaunovelthingofdoom will write paper letters to each other. the wood thing seems really unwieldy, but i'm not sure how else to do it. can you make paper out of cotton? is it cost-effective? (i have absolutely no idea if cotton would grow in roman britain, but it grows on the island province, at least in the southeast. it's one of the reasons the empire settled there - good cotton cloth in different colors and patterns.)
c. scifi friday is alllll new tonight. woo! i'm waiting for SOMEONE on bsg to realize that gaius is utterly bugnuts insane. this is much more exciting to me than the release of hbp, apologies to the harry potter fanatics on the flist. i never read ootp, tho, so my reaction to hbp is mostly "so... you think three years until book 7? four?"
d. ...dude. acronyms. >.<
e. i want chocolate.
