last night my curling team won in a close game and i unexpectedly bought a broom. so i can cross something off my goals list for 2025. :D (the folks who volunteer at the store at my curling club were on the other team and when we were sitting around after the game they mentioned that and i said i needed to buy a broom, and one of them said well, there are brooms in the store, let's go look. so i hefted some of them - they weigh nothing - and bought one. it's black and white which isn't that exciting but i bought a
broom head cover that looks kind of midcentury to style it up a little. and also because you need to keep the broom head clean. now i just have to remember to take it with me on sunday and bring it home.)
saturday it snowed! kind of. very lightly. and then it stopped and was cold. i went to the coffeeshop down the street from where i used to live and did not work on my story for writing group and then tried and failed to find a moon cake but did find shrimp chips - two bags because i have to taste test the different brands - and went to my sister's to water her plants as she is still in florida.
today was slightly less procrastinatory than last week. yay. today is also carrot cake day so i have to ask - those of you who like carrot cake, raisins or no?
(those of you who do not like carrot cake are equally valid but also wrong. ahem.)
so the groundhog saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter. whether he's right or not is a whole other thing but personally i'm excited for at least the potential of more snow.
and unelected power mad children are breaking laws left and right in dc without anyone so much as telling them no and i don't even know how to feel about it other than to wish someone would put elmo and mango mussolini out of our misery.
in more fun news,
welcome to stick nation. by which i mean a couple of guys who run an instagram and tiktok dedicated to people's reviews of cool sticks that they've found. the world is a weird and wonderful place and i mean that sincerely.
why does this creepy fork exist? who knows! but there's definitely something off about it.
