That surfer pic I 100% was sure was Ai or photoshopped until my friend who shared it also shared the video - I mean, it looks like someone's replaced the ground he's (as it turns out NOT standing on) with badly smudged clouds, right? How wrong could I be!
I found the muffin man yesterday, his tiktok is rather funny, and then I spotted him during the closing ceremony too!
I've definitely been down the Olympic rabbit hole the last two weeks and got very little else done - mostly watching Handball, hockey and athletics, but also trying out a bit of the Breaking (clever but I felt like seen one, seen them all apart from the Aussie Ray Gun), surfing (not the round with that photo), gymnastics and diving. I'm all sported out!
I love seeing the tiny countries breaking their national records but having them win medals is even better! Have a look for the amazing Bhutan woman finishing the marathon in last place being given a standing ovation. She's actually an ultramarathoner and finished 2nd in a 207Km race in the Himalayas so clearly she's used ( ... )

the first time i saw that pic was in the article so i knew it was real but you are not wrong! it really does look like photoshop.
i didn't watch any of the breakdancing but partly because it's just so weird that breakdancing is an olympic sport. if this was the late 80s or early 90s i'd think the ioc was doing it to be cool with the youth but in 2024? i just wonder what they were thinking. apparently they're not going to have it in 2028. and it took me a minute to realize you meant, like, field hockey and not ice hockey. >.< (because they don't have ice hockey at the summer olympics, self.)
i found the bhutanese marathoner on youtube and i love that so many people stayed to wait for her! i mean, she was an hour and a half behind the gold medal winner. O.O that's a long time to sit in the stands waiting.
