it's not too hot, not too cold
got stuff done today, focus was better, still trying to catch up. we had the monthly admin lunch which was fun as always and this time admin d brought her dog! when did she get a dog? recently, apparently. doggie is a frenchie and VERY CUTE. she was very patient about everyone wanting to pick her up and hold her on their laps. admin d ordered the lunch and i guess she had extra budget because she ordered chocolate chip cookies which i could not eat because passover. hmph. company was good at least and i'm not just saying that because there was a dog.
yesterday was administrative professionals day so my department had a (yummy) lunch for... the admins, it, hr, and fiscal. which i guess made it general support staff appreciation day. which, whatever. it and fiscal deserve some recognition for their hard work and patience. i could eat pretty much everything except for the rice - there was ice cream which fortuitously came in cups so i didn't even have to worry about a cone - and we got rain jackets with hoods and the department logo on the sleeve. which, again, whatever. they seem like nice jackets and i appreciate that the hoods zip up into the collars. but do i really need to broadcast to the entire world where i work? i do not.
to all the administrative professionals reading this - i hope your places of employment appreciate you.
the other thing that happened yesterday is that i went with my sister to look at an apartment - she's moving because they raised her rent and she figures she can find more apartment for the same rent elsewhere - it was disappointing but the neighborhood was nice. and then she basically took me out for dinner for administrative professionals day. which was very nice and totally unnecessary. i did not stop her tho.
yesterday was also the anniversary of the good voters of alaska ratifying the state constitution so they could become a state. and today is world penguin day. /('v')\ and also the perfect date (all you need is a light jacket). and tomorrow is friday. :D
