any day that celebrates food is a good day

happy pi(e) day, my lovelies! and to my fellow americans, i hope you survived daylight savings ok. i spent some quality time on tuesday thinking it was wednesday and finally decided it was because we'd lost an hour and my brain interpreted that as having skipped ahead a whole day. >.<

today at work one of the guys in one of my groups brought in three - count 'em - pies. apple, blueberry, and cherry. the apple had a tch too much sugar and i didn't try the cherry but the blueberry was very good. and then one of the grad students in another group i support made me a tiny cherry pie of my own! she was making pie because the group has a social gathering every week and i guess i got one because i submit their expenses. i guess. it's a nice looking little pie - it has a lattice top - and it was very nice of her. (it's going to be breakfast tomorrow. :D ) (look, what's the point of being an adult if you can't have dessert for breakfast? right?)

on sunday my curling team lost, sigh, and on saturday tamalinn and i went to see some large and expensive suburban open houses. two new construction and one midcentury ranch. the ranch needed a lot of work. (it had baseboard heat and i hate baseboard heat so the first thing i'd probably do is rip out the baseboards and put in new hvac. and then rip up the carpets and replace all the closets.) it was a good size with a mostly reasonable kitchen and a lovely sunroom and a massive yard, it was just old. and the new ones were actually nice! a++ kitchens, no notes. so big, tho - four and five bedrooms, finished basements, big open spaces on the third floor. not nearly as much yard as the ranch, tho. we had a late lunch (i had a breakfast burrito) and she drove me home and i sat around feeling overstuffed. it was a big burrito.

did you know you can knit ramen noodles? knoodles. :D

fun with friends, knittery, pi day, curling, weekend wrapup, nerd support, architectural nifty
