why did i think it was thursday?
happy humpday, o my flist. all day i thought it was thursday. >.< but no. wednesday. time for reading meme!
What I just finished reading:
phantomarine vol 1, by claire niebergall, the first collection of the web comic of the same name. it's so good and i love the art and there's a fluffy samoyed named katja and because i blew through vol 1 the one-page-a-week pace of the web comic is VERY SLOW to me now.
also heavy vinyl: riot on the radio, written by carly usdin and drawn by nina vakueva, which is about girls working in a record store in the late 90s which means it's a. adorable, and b. nostalgic as hell. seriously, it's so cute. the resolution to the case (a famous singer goes missing) is dumb as hell, tho. but still - adorable!
What I am reading now:
still a memory called empire, which i'm still enjoying. i really love the worldbuilding. i guess stuff is starting to happen? there seems to be a war on, anyway.
What I'm going to read next:
it's anyone's guess. maybe the next heavy vinyl trade, who knows.
so i survived my first week of the fall semester and am easily surviving the second week of the fall semester. i've scheduled meetings and booked rooms and the seminar series that one of my pi's runs had its first speaker yesterday and he was very interesting and everything went well. and i had to go in last friday for the every-other-friday pi lunch which meant a. i was in every day last week (at least it was a short week, and it was so hot i was glad to have a/c), and b. i didn't have to make lunch on friday. :D i also learned that the travel agent i always worked with when i needed to book travel was suddenly no longer with the company, which was weird because i just talked to her on wednesday. and she left a trip unbooked! my guess is she was suddenly fired but there's no way for me to find out.
on saturday i had a dentist appointment and went to costco with my sister and then didn't know what to do with myself because it was so hot. *ghasp* tamalinn invited me over for the a/c and we sat around and chatted and petted the dog and when the rain stopped and the heat broke *relief* we walked aforementioned dog and then i came home. it was a nice way to spend an afternoon and once i finished my giant iced chai i was even awake enough to enjoy it.
