i judged the met ball and it was fun

pretend it's yesterday so i can say first of may, first of may, outdoor fucking starts today. :D (well, not around here - it's kind of wet and gross - but maybe where you are the weather is good for outdoor boinking.)

i hope you all enjoyed the month of poetry, minus a few days. it's kind of weird to post every day but i have a ton of poems saved for poetry month and i must share.

so the met ball was yesterday - the theme was karl lagerfeld, basically - and it just wasn't as exciting as met balls in the past. i mean, even if you don't dress to the theme (and honestly, if you don't want to wear chanel, that's totally fine) it should be an excuse to go full ham all over the red carpet. have fun with it! go nuts! jared leto came as a furry - karl's cat choupette - because i guess someone had to, and doja cat true to her name had, like, cat face prosthetics (she looked like one of the cat nuns from that episode of doctor who) and there were some fun looks and of course some really pretty dresses (and some really nice shoes! and good hair!) but not nearly enough bonkers. ok, lil nas x definitely brought the wtf, but otherwise.

on the other hand! no one showed up in head to toe pepto pink like sebastian stan did last year. (i have neither forgiven nor forgotten.) altho glenn close made up for 2022's bottle-of-pepto look by wearing the world's largest bed skirt in a, uh, let's say "subdued" shade and while i don't dislike the massive cape she maybe could've worn a stronger color.

anyway, it was kind of thematically boring and my roommate and i were both very judgey about vogue's photos and it was fun.

it's time for uber's yearly lost and found index! what weird shit did people leave in ubers this year? a toy poodle (real). hamsters (also real). blood (fake). a friend's tooth (also fake). a bathroom shelf. a breast pump. two fingernails. six cheesecakes. one (count it) gucci loafer. just the one!

on sunday the world wide web turned thirty. have some cake in celebration. :D and thank tim berners-lee for convincing cern - which owned the web because sir tim worked for them - not to license it for profit and to let people use it for free.

actress anna may wong is getting a barbie. i know her mostly as an actress in the 20s and 30s but she was apparently also the first asian american lead in an american tv show, in the 50s. i think she was a trailblazer for asian american actors so it's about time she gets some pop culture recognition.

barbie, psa, uber, met gala, april is poetry month
