happy solstice, all! from now on the days get longer. :D (or shorter if you're in the southern hemisphere. sorry about that.)
also happy hanukah to my fellow hebs, from halfway through the holiday.
i spent a lot of yesterday thinking it was wednesday and a lot of today thinking it was friday and neither of those things was true. i also had to work from home today because i got my hair cut so it's shorter and cuter, and i'm so used to working from work in the middle of the week it was weird to be home. but i got shit done, so. well, some shit. it's almost the end of the year so there's almost nothing to do.
last night my sister had a hanukah party for cousins (first cousins from dad's side as opposed to second cousins from mom's side) and it was the LAST HOLIDAY PARTY OF THE SEASON and i am NOT UPSET ABOUT THAT. she also had a hanukah party for friends on saturday, and the admins at work had their holiday lunch and yankee swap last thursday (i won a knitted hat with a pompom which is VERY CUTE especially since i haven't had a hat with a pompom since i was like fourteen) (one of the admins knits) and i did buy t car salt and pepper shakers last year which means next year i need to get something different. but it was fun and mostly i've been eating holiday party food for WEEKS and tonight i made a quiche and i'm going to eat like a normal person until a. christmas (because chinese food) and b. next week (because i have the week off) (and also chinese food).
sunday was the last curl of the year and we LOST altho we put up a good fight. i liked my team and i had fun altho seriously, i should be a lot better than i am.
my sister and i are in the market for something to watch over nye - usually we go for the extended versions of lotr but we may branch out - so i watched the first episode of emily in paris to see if i was interested in bingeing, and it's, uh, well, it's really dumb. very pretty, altho i only like about half of emily's clothes, but stupid. does it get any less dumb? i've only seen the one episode so i am fully prepared to accept that it just doesn't get off to a great start.
...i'm feeling judgey about tv. apologies to anyone who's seen and enjoyed it. i think it's just not my thing. it kind of makes me want to go to paris, tho. wander along the seine, sit in parks, eat delicious baked goods.
in less judgey tv commentary, i'm really enjoying andor. i've been watching it with my roommate, which is fun because she doesn't generally watch tv, altho for reasons that escape me she gets genuine enjoyment from listening to me tell her about shows i watch that she doesn't (like stranger things, which was too intense for her but she wanted to know what was happening anyway).
i also finally washed and ironed and framed my sister's cross stitch.
washed and ironed for the second time. (i found a small stain after the first time so had to wash and iron AGAIN.)
framed!
unrelated chocolate corgi.
neanderthal cooking was surprisingly yummy. they didn't use salt but they did have, like, wild mustard and nuts and a bunch of other things.
are you curious about the lives of british female spies?
some of them are willing to share.
what's it like having to drive ten hours to get groceries? (by which i mean, how do you shop and what do you buy and how do you get it home when you live in the ass-end of nowhere, canada?) it requires A LOT of planning. i'm sure you're all shocked.
