i still have kate bush stuck in my head
on friday when i wasn't home my roommate harvested and ate the pregnant cucumber WITHOUT ME. she said it was salty (???) possibly because it got so much sun and because it's been so hot out. and she ate it anyway. in a salad. MEDIOCRE. fortunately there are still cukes-in-training which will ideally grow into cukes-ready-to-eat which i will ideally GET to eat.
hmph, tho.
quickie rundown of the last week:
on tuesday my cousin j (of j&r, not cousin j of j&m whose kids wouldn't talk about stranger things because i hadn't seen the s4 finale yet) had a celebration of life for his mom - my mom's cousin m - because she passed away in april or may of 2020 and he couldn't (and then just didn't) do anything for her at the time. we went to the cemetery, he said some things, it was very nice, we went back to his house and ate a lot and my sister and i both got bugbit from being out in the backyard for hours. there were A LOT of people. (m's twin sister had five kids, all of whom are married and four of whom reproduced, and all five kids and i think two spice and all their kids showed up, and that's a football team in itself.) i was so done with people an hour before i left. >.<
wednesday i saw the immersive king tut exhibit that i think is traveling around the us, which was educational and interesting but probably could have been a little more immersive. but i enjoyed it. i didn't know all of tut's stuff is still in egypt, when so many of the grave goods and mummies from 19th and 20th century digs were shipped out of the country. after that was tapas with cousin p who lives in salem, because it was restaurant week and the best thing to do with restaurant week is use it to eat somewhere you've never been.
thursday was bring your own lunch lunch at work, and afterwards one of the admins cut me some leftover ice cream cake because some phd student got an ice cream cake for his dissertation defense. i didn't even know students did that. it was yummy.
yesterday my sister had plans that involved me going to some open houses with her and then accompanying her when she ran her errands and then going back to her house to watch crazy rich asians and eat chinese food. her car died after the first open house and we waited for probably three hours total for a. the battery guy, b. the tow guy (it was the alternator which meant her car just wouldn't start), and c. the lyft guy. this was not part of the plan. we still watched the movie and ordered chinese food, tho.
and today it was hot. >.< my roommate and i went for ice cream at like 4:30. yum.
i don't know who watches it, but kevin can f*ck himself comes back tomorrow ("for the final season!" as the ads say except it's only the second season so i don't know why "final season!" is a big deal) and archer comes back on wednesday and resident alien came back two weeks ago. i no longer want to yeet the sheriff into the sun (most of the time) - now i want to yeet the mayor. and alan tudyk is just as goofy as ever. i highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.
i'm feeling a compulsion to watch s4 of stranger things again. >.< or maybe s2, altho i really like robin and would miss her. but i have other things to do! like finish my sister's cross stitch so i can start this one, as it is almost pumpkin spice season.
