this morning i woke up randomly at 8:45 and wondered why my alarm hadn't gone off, and it was because i set it for saturday. >.< i wanted to sign onto work at 9 tho so it worked out. it was a slow day until lunchtime, and then it was all expenses, because of course it was.
tomorrow i'm going back to the office. my symptoms are much improved - like, i feel like a normal person again - and my temp has been normal for a week and today was day 12 since i first tested positive and man, i have to get out of the house. put on real clothes like a real person and just... be out in the world.
sunday it was so nice my sister and i took a long drive to see a condo, which she didn't love, but it got us out of the house and into the sunshine and then i came home and sat on the back porch for family zoom and seriously, the benefits of fresh air cannot be overstated.
last night was the met ball and i scrolled through the pics on
omg that dress and just wallowed. (i love that tumblr. like, a lot. one of the best comments of the night was from someone who said kris jenner showed up looking like
a lemon scented wet-wipe. which,
fair.) a lot of ugly looks and so few people dressing to the theme - and the theme was the gilded age, which is a little on the nose for the current state of the us but also SO EASY TO GOOGLE - like, where were the leg o' mutton sleeves? the giant hats? the bustles? the tailcoats and waistcoats and watches on chains? the conspicuous displays of ludicrous wealth? the
electric light dress? or, uh, the labor organizers and socialists? so disappointing. i put on my judgeypants and they were so comfortable.
(sebastian stan looked like someone dropped him in a giant bottle of pepto-bismol and we will not speak of it again. whoever styled him should be shot.)
and then towards the end i learned that someone leaked a draft opinion in which
the supreme court undid roe v wade and that kind of put a damper on the festivities. (altho i kept the judgeypants on because there was still ugly couture to facepalm at, and i was on a roll.) on the one hand, it's a draft and things can change. on the other, i don't hold out a lot of hope. i mean, scotus doesn't answer to anyone and how much do they really care what the public reaction is to their opinion on roe? probably not much. i'm super curious who the leaker is, tho, and why they picked now to do it. the draft is dated sometime in february, so it's not like this thing was just written. politico broke the story and i do not in any way expect them to reveal their source, nor do i want them to, but i'm very curious.
anyway, abortion is still legal (more or less, in most places, working around anti-choice shenanigans in some states) and if you're feeling helpless and have some bucks to spare maybe
donate to a local abortion fund. (if you don't have the bucks to spare don't stress about it. you can only do what you have the resources to do.)
