it's currently 64º, sunny, and (as they say on the tumbls) HECKIN WIMDY. it's spring! we've had a couple good snowstorms, so if it wants to be spring out here i'm cool with that. gonna be weird going to curling when it's medium warm out, tho.
in other news, my bigbang hit 8000 words (which isn't great in the grand scheme of things but i'm ok with it) and it has a title and i know how it ends and i am so far ahead in a lot of ways than where i was this time last year that i can't get over myself. (about the same word count, tho.) also i know fully what the story is and where it's going, which is more than i can say for last year. i wasn't 100% sure what this whole story was when i started writing it, but all my decisions since then have been more fine-tuning and less changing my mind. it's a nice feeling.
so my sister and i went down to florida to visit at the end of january, right? and after a week i came home and my sister didn't. she finally came back yesterday. after six weeks. O.O and she and my mom did not kill each other! altho i think it helped that my sister was working from (someone else's) home so there were huge chunks out of the weekday when she needed to be left alone. i picked her up at the airport and we went back to her house and took her back to her house and walked to the grocery store and got dinner (burgers and fries) and watched house of gucci which i think i liked? i really liked lady gaga, anyway. i didn't recognize al pacino at first but boy did i know his voice. it's sometimes hard to tell how much time has passed, and maurizio gucci (as played by adam driver who doesn't look excessively tall until he's standing next to someone else) underwent a fairly swift personality change without warning or explanation. and for a movie about a fashion house, i didn't like a lot of the clothes.
a couple nights ago i dreamed i woke up and a bunch of things were (neatly) organized on the kitchen floor, like when you get a leak under the sink and have to take everything out from under the sink so you can clean up and fix the leak. i guess there was a leak in my dream? and my roommate had cleaned EVERYTHING off her floor, i mean you could actually see the floor! because there had been a leak in her room. and then it started raining over the tops of my windows - i have double-hung windows, and sometimes the top pane slides down a little if you don't lock it - and getting in my room. the floors weren't wet anywhere else, tho. it wasn't raining when i went to bed or anything, so i don't know where that came from.
wednesday was my two year anniversary of working for nerds. i slacked admin s from the libraries to tell her, and to add "so you've had two years to miss me. :D " (to which she responded with "I MISS YOU!") someday when the weather is nice enough to sit outside we're going to meet for lunch.
still apparently an episode behind on killing eve, because i couldn't get the second one on streaming - i guess i don't have amc+ - but it's on tonight on regular tv. i expect it to stay weird. i am however caught up on better things and if you're looking for a half hour show that's not about very much, i highly recommend it. it sounds like i'm selling it short but it's one of those shows that doesn't really have ongoing plots, and the drama is fairly low-key, and i always get the sense there's more going on in the background that we're just not seeing. but i really like it - there's something very affectionate and soothing and kind of prickly about the relationships in it. also sometimes there are dogs. :D
the news out of ukraine continues awful, but i'm getting a kick out of ukrainian farmers towing
abandoned russian missile systems with their tractors.
someone left a present for totoro at the ghibli museum in tokyo. so cute i must squee.
