happy mother's day to the (american) moms and mom-equivalents in the audience! if you have a good relationship with your mom, tell her you love her. if you have a good relationship with your kid(s), i hope they told you they love you. and if it's a tough day for you, as a mom or as the child of a mom, i hope you have people around you to make it a good day.
the weather here was SO NICE i went for a walk with friend a and
tamalinn and the tiny barky dog, and the bottom of my foot is like one giant blister because i wore the wrong shoes. >.< we saw so many dogs, tho. SO MANY. and exercise is always good. and we had ice cream at the end of the walk. :D
last night my sister came over and we watched tenet, which only occasionally made sense but was impressive partly for the fact that it made absolutely no attempt to disguise how freakin' tall elizabeth debicki is. (6'2".) i mean, she's walking next to john david washington and she's CLEARLY got a few inches on him. and he's the lead. i enjoyed that. :D not sure how i feel about the movie as a whole, tho. every time i thought i knew what was going on, something happened and i was confused again.
yesterday i also dropped stuff off at goodwill, had a delicious chicken salad sandwich for lunch which i have to mention because it was that good, bought some moving boxes at u-haul, and... wait for it... locked myself out of the house. again. i went out the back - WITH MY KEYS - to take out the recycling, and as soon as the door shut i remembered i don't have a key for it and neither does anyone else. >.< the landlady's former daughter-in-law (mom of the granddaughter) was out having a smoke so i told her what a dumbass i was, and she and i tried to break me back into my own apartment through a window. which is a lot harder when all of the windows are closed! she said "you can call the fire department and they'll break you in!" and i said "great! my phone's inside!" >.< so she called for me and the fire department said to call the police department, so she did that, and eventually a cop came out. he asked for id, which of course i didn't have, but fortunately - because i had my keys - he accepted my car registration. and then he broke into my place through a front window. ahem. (it was harder than it sounds - the window sticks. even from inside where you have something to hold on to it's a very hard window to get open.) and i crawled through the window and over my couch to get inside, where i discovered... the chain was not on the front door. I COULD HAVE LET MYSELF IN THE FRONT LIKE A NORMAL PERSON. the idiocy is epic around here.
friday i got my second vax, yay, which was just as anti-climactic as the first time. no side effects, except saturday morning i woke up feeling like someone punched me in the arm. (it passed.)
send that virus across the river. when i called my parents to let them know my mom asked how the packing was going, to which i said i hadn't actually started packing yet. but i have now packed two - count 'em - boxes. cookbooks. :D i've also done more sorting and produced like four or five bags of shred. definitely done with the shredding. mom asked if i was excited to move, and i said no. i'm not.
farwing and i are going over on tuesday to measure the rooms, so maybe i'll be more excited when i have a better idea what the place looks like and where everything might fit. we'll see.
the most iconic cars in history - can't really argue with the model t or the ford mustang, but no delorean? and why the toyota corolla? of all things.
do you want a recipe for
1300-year-old jam tarts? of course you do.
from the department of what the actual and entire fuck,
this house listing in florida. well, "house". i say no more so as not to spoil.
and from the department of there's something here i don't get,
this house listing in michigan. actual house, very very very mid-century. and not entirely the hip attractive mid-century. altho there's some pretty fabulous tile in one of the bathrooms.
to cope with pandemic lockdown, photographer alison luntz
photographed herself in front of other photos to give the illusion of being able to travel. it's just her, a photo she took in the before times, and whatever she has around the house.
listen to ingenuity flying ON MARS. you might have to turn the sound up to hear the whir of its tiny little helicopter blades. seriously, tho, this is still the coolest thing.
