pretend it's yesterday so i can say "first of may, first of may, outdoor fucking stars today!" of course it also rained, so.
tonight's netflix party movie was the saint, and it was... disappointing. val kilmer (the saint) and elisabeth shue (the love interest) had almost no chemistry, which is a problem when they're playing people who apparently fall madly in love after having known each other for like ten minutes. the dialogue is dumb and awkward and for two supposedly smart and competent people, the main characters do some dumbshit things.
this morning i had zoom brunch (still fun and social), then laundry (smell the clean sheets), then a walk because OH MY GOD IT WAS SO NICE OUT. there were unsurprisingly a lot of people out and about, plus of course the occasional dog, and just about everyone was wearing a mask, even the joggers and cyclists. (it's locally mandatory and i think statewide.) i keep expecting to see a dog wearing one, altho there's absolutely zero reason for it. and i can't imagine dogs putting up with it either.
an unintended consequence of quarantine -
drug cartels in la can't launder their money. stores are closed, cross-border traffic is way down, money is much harder to wash.
a weatherman in indiana (broadcasting from his house, natch) did a weather report while holding his cat, and now
she's a star in her own right. everyone should have such fluffy costars.
the eels in a japanese aquarium are forgetting what people look like - when the keepers walk by, the eels hide - so the aquarium is encouraging people to facetime with them. how cute is that? so cute.
the world is so weirdly quiet and empty.
the lions in front of the art institute in chicago
are now wearing masks, as is the giant picasso sculpture in daley plaza. the picasso has to be seen to be believed.
good omens: lockdown. completely adorable, and it may or may not make you want cake.
