omg, flist, it's been YEARS. well, weeks. i feel like i'm behind on everything except nano - i'm actually ahead! it's the sex scenes - i've managed to keep up with writing lj idol challenges but not reading everyone else's, and i think i'm going to take a bye this week. who knows!
anyway. in the past few weeks i've written a lot of nanonovel, a couple of lj idol prompts, and posted my rbb. people seem to like it, which is nice.
the art is really fantastic and andy was lovely to work with, despite a little upheaval in her home country. she made an animated banner and i love me some animation. also, she drew some pretty fabulous smut.
i saw last christmas in the theater (super cute, went in a direction i was not at all expecting) and crazy rich asians (again) at my sister's house (we ordered chinese, because of course). i also helped her straighten up her place because our parents are coming up for thanksgiving and staying with her. in her little one-bedroom. O.O i think this is nuts, but she wants to do it, so.
i went to an all-staff meeting at work (not the most exciting meeting for me but we got food from a jamaican place and it was yummy, and there are tunnels on campus! which we took to get to the room to set up), took notes at an admin meeting, went to a tea break (basically a bunch of people sitting around the break room drinking tea and talking about tea and just generally being very civilized), got a project that will involve taking pictures of the shelves in the annex, ordered a lot of food for people, and learned (today) that one of my fellow admins is descended from the first man hanged for murder in the us, back when it was still colonies. her college roommate was coincidentally descended from the guy who sentenced him. she's also writing and drawing a three-volume graphic novel about te lawrence, which made me think of
apiphile.
one of the admins is leaving on friday, so today we had a goodbye pie party for her. SO MUCH PIE. SO, SO MUCH. it was delicious and i ate a lot of it.
my curling team won! this past week! and the week before i read the schedule wrong, thought we went on the ice at 6:15, and realized when i was IN THE CAR GETTING READY TO LEAVE that no, we went on at 4. >.< i was MORTIFIED. i emailed my team to explain and apologize, and they said no worries, they won. by a lot. without me. i'm a bad luck charm, seriously! altho we have won a couple games with me playing.... i spend my time on the ice thinking about a. nano, and b. next year's bang.
it snowed on sunday. it didn't stick, but i was still very excited.
i'm sure other stuff happened but i can't think of what. stuff, things. i signed up for a tea swap for nano and got some really yummy-looking tea. swaps are fun. :D
because it's been YEARS weeks, my links are old. pretend it's a couple weeks ago.
cookie dough and an oven are on their way (or already at?) the international space station, so astronauts can have not just fresh cookies but also fresh food for the first time. altho didn't they grow lettuce? and that was fresh. but this will mark the first time they can bake something fresh in the iss. exciting!
student jeopardy contestant's answer to the final jeopardy question
makes alex trebek and everyone else all emotional. RIGHT IN THE FEELS.
the 9th was the anniversary of the fall of the berlin wall (also the anniversary of kristallnacht, but the berlin wall coming down is a slightly more positive bit of history). it's been thirty years.
the ap was there. so was a photographer
named steve eason.
berliners reflect.
if you happen to be a lightly kinky person with $1350 to throw around, gwyneth paltrow's goop gift guide
has the present for you. (hint: it's leather and a stupid price. but at least it's not a jade egg you're supposed to put up your vag for... reasons.)
also today boston got its
annual christmas tree from nova scotia. i think my favorite part is that the tree arrives bearing a nova scotian flag, because of course it does.
