i need to update more than once a week

shana tovah to my fellow hebs! may you be inscribed in the book of life for a good year. yesterday my sister and i went to services with one of her friends and the friend's hubs - first we went out for breakfast because we could - i thought the rabbi's sermon ran a little long and could've used a tch more editing, but overall services there are very soothing and comfortable.

after that i had to drop off some stuff at the employment agency, which happens to be in the same building as old job, so i stopped in to say hi to the receptionist, and discovered her and one of the tax managers checking over a pile of certifieds. and i thought i am so fucking glad i don't have to do that any more. because seriously, i am so glad tax busy season is behind me. i didn't stay long, because i didn't want to interrupt, but i got to say hi. they got a temp for the tax admin stuff, and someone in new york is doing the efiling, and the manager said they still miss me but i'm not totally sure i believe him. mostly it was nice to be able to say hey, i found a job! and oh by the way i'm so glad certifieds are no longer my life.

and today i went to work! where i attempted to set up a reception for monday, which is almost done except i need to find a table to set out the food on. i may or may not have asked what i thought were a bunch of dumb questions, but if i don't ask, how will i learn? right?

sunday i finished my entry for therealljidol at almost the last minute (whew), went to the grocery store, and went to my sister's for rosh hashanah dinner. i made a honey cake and waaaaay too many chocolate chip mint meringues, and both went over well. i need an actual cake pan for the honey cake, tho - there's too much batter for my loaf pan.

sunday was also the preacher series finale (!!!) and i'm not sure how i feel about it. it was weird, but the whole show was weird.

saturday i went apple picking for a friend's birthday, which involved cider doughnuts (yum), apples, and running into one of the women from my writing group. O.O who was there with her wife and their kid and another woman from writing group! it was so very random, but really fun. then my sister and i saw judy, which is about judy garland towards the end of her life and is just deeply sad.

and on friday i got to tour the preservation lab at work, where they figure out how to repair and archive books and bound journals and all the random stuff they have at the libraries, with a minimum of interference. so, like, archive boxes with as little glue as possible, and reusable plastic display cradles. cool shit. well, i think it's cool shit. they have an old book press and a big ol' vise and a MASSIVE paper cutter and the little bookbinding part of me fell onto my inner fainting couch with glee.

inductees into the internet hall of fame (did you know that was a thing? i did not know that was a thing) include the librarian who got libraries to offer free online access. these are the things you learn when you work where i do. :D

enjoy some photos of the iss, because space.

librarians are the best, new job second floor, international space station, baked goods, now i'm a library admin, fun with my sister, fun with friends, preacher, weekend wrapup, jewstuff
