(red is on. that's my favorite line, altho frank and marvin arguing about the pig is fun, and i always liked "the general has dropped his contact lens".)
anyway. i have successfully survived two! days! of new! job! it's very exciting. :D yesterday i got a tour of the floor, met a lot of people whose names i'll never remember, got my id (after standing in a longer line than expected because students), had a moment of shared fangirl with the hr person who took me to get said id (we squeed over good omens), got a general overview of the structure i'll be working under, started reading up on best practices and various department-related things, and possibly something else i don't remember. someone had put a welcome sign on one of the cabinets in my cube, which was really sweet, and before i showed up yesterday my manager had assembled some desk supplies for me - pens and pencils, a notepad, post-its, scissors, a cup of pushpins, and... a tiny bag of granola. hee. i also acquired a lanyard for my id so i don't lose it, and a shmancy water bottle.
fun thing: the kitchen has a water dispenser called a bevi (my sister has one in her office too) that dispenses still water, sparkling water, and... FLAVORS. right now it has mango (yum), cucumber (deeply weird), raspberry, and lime. apparently they change the flavors from time to time. they also have coffee urns but no tea. but they do have an electric kettle, so i brought some teabags today so i could caffeinate.
so i'm still an admin, but this time in the collections department of a university library. (there are A TON of universities and colleges in greater boston.) hence the incoming students. :D my new commute isn't a whole lot different from the old commute, just in a different direction, but i'm not in downtown boston any more, and can i just say, i do not at all miss the tourists, the panhandlers, and the aggressively earnest twenty-somethings hustling for money for various charities and causes. i do however miss the weekly fruit box and the daily snacks. i'll have to bring my own snacks now. O.O
other fun thing: so many people decorate their cubes and offices! one of the other admins has a set of golden girls funko pops, and the admin who sits behind me has a death funko (from sandman, not some other death) and WINCHESTERS. i love finding fangirls in the wild. :D so far my cube is just decorated with a postcard of the old south church and a cute little print of a vampire hedgehog that i'm pretty sure

ephemera sent me. it feels very sparse but to be fair i've only been there two days.
i think i'll be mostly managing calendars, which is a new thing for me, but i think it will be good. at least i hope so. it's been kind of slow and pretty quiet, but again, two days.
