What I just finished reading:
the beatrix gates, which took like three days to read. it's very short. i think i liked the last story the best - it's a retelling of the life of joseph, son of jacob, wearer of the coat of many colors, and the guy to blame for bringing the ancient hebrews to egypt - partly because joseph has visions of moses, who he calls burning beard, and i kept picturing charlton heston in the ten commandments.
What I am reading now:
blackout, which i just started so i can't really comment on it. so far, so good
What I'm going to read next:
probably all clear, the sequel, because blackout ends on a massive cliffhanger. like, was-this-supposed-to-be-one-book-but-she-split-it-in-two kind of cliffhanger.
i got my hair cut today so now it's bouncy and short and i smell like hair care products. >.< but not in a pleasant fruity kind of way. oh well. at least the smell will wash out, and my hair is shorter and cute again.
tonight was the series finale of you're the worst, which had such a odd happy ending - like, everyone gets a happy ending - maybe because everyone grew up and started accepting they were grown-ass adults and should act like it? - and the reveal about all the flashfowards this season made me feel like i'd been played. they were all of them really misleading. i'm not sure how i feel about the show overall, but i missed a bunch of episodes in the middle so some of the storyline and character development was kind of confusing. it was a weirdly compelling show, i can say that for sure.
a swedish cop walked into a sauna, noticed one of the other guys in the sauna was a wanted fugitive,
and arrested him. naked. heh.
and on that fun note, the daily poem.
And those other females who managed to slip the collar for a moment or two of life were branded “bad.”

The secret nests in my marrow.
At the striptease I appear pirouette
and prey.
Later,
I might show you
what it means to be consumed.
The pashadom and papacy come
to gush and forever satellite spatter,
no matter,
in the end you will find them
covered in a fine mist,
tasting of me.
What they do not know - beyond the veil
I lay with the wolf
& the wolf
is me.
Find me in a forest of tupelo,
cypress & black gum,
at midrib,
lobe, and blade.
Even a leaf can have teeth.
Human acts can be cannibalistic.
I am here
picking all of the wildflowers.
