What I just finished reading:
flights of reality, which like all anthologies had some stories i really liked and some i only kinda liked. some of them felt a little unfinished, like they could have gone on longer. (i think the author made a conscious decision to write short, which i can appreciate, except it made some of the stories feel as if they ended too soon.) i definitely enjoyed all the illustrations.

What I am reading now:
quicksilver, by neal stephenson, and oh my god, flist, this is a very dense book. the narration switches between past-tense pov in the 1660s in england, and present-tense pov in 1713 in boston. stephenson clearly did a lot of research, altho i don't think he's showing off with it (yet). i mean, he's not michael chabon. in any case, i'm liking it and i want to know what happens, altho because it's about "natural philosophers" (ie, scientists) there's a lot of late-renaissance science, and a lot of it goes right over my head.

What I'm going to read next:
possibly buccaneer, by dudley pope, which i acquired the same time and the same way i got quicksilver, or record of a spaceborn few, which is the third in the series that started with the long way to a small, angry planet.

yesterday and today i felt like i got a lot done at work, except at the end of the day i wasn't sure what exactly i did. i also keep thinking there's something i forgot to do, but obviously i can't remember what.

friend asks me to pick her up at the airport next week. i say sure, send me the flight info. she says thank you! jetblue! and i think... that's not what i meant. like, what's the departure time? departure city? if you don't give me actual information i can use to look up the flight, i'm not going to be there if it gets in early. and if it's late i'm not hanging around the airport. don't make me drag every useful piece of information out of you, if you want me to do something for you.

did anyone watch mayans mc? what did you think? i think i can see where it's going, which is annoying and dumb, but i could be wrong, and in any case i'm interested enough to watch next week. since it's a kurt sutter show, it had an entirely unsurprising cameo that still made me go eee.

mayans, new job second floor, wednesday reading meme, ugh people
