i was watching tiny house hunters earlier and this couple wanted a tiny house they could tow between portland and milwaukee and the female half wanted a full-size kitchen and office space (she works from home so fair enough) and the male half wanted a porch and enough room to entertain. and i just thought "you're looking at tiny houses on trailers and you think you're getting a full-size oven and a lot of counter space?" it's like the people who want normal-size bathtubs and a lot of closet space and full-size fridges, in 250sf. i know it's tv but at least pretend you've done some homework.

i took thursday and friday off and mostly got everything done that i wanted to. mostly. friday i didn't get dressed until 3:45 and that was only because i had to take my old dead tv to the city electronic waste recycling (conveniently super close to my house) and they close at four. and then i met my sister for dinner. thursday i ran errands and uploaded some fics to ao3 and saturday i picked up my one new comic and met tamalinn for beer and delicious nachos and, uh, went over to my sister's house to order chinese and watch movies. :D we saw the end of the notebook (sad ending but also romantic, and beardy ryan gosling is not a great look) and all of down with love (stylized and stylish but i don't know what the point was) and the very end of pretty woman (let me just say i'm glad shorts suits are no longer a thing). and yesterday i did laundry. and a guy from the gas company came out to change the meter, which they apparently do every seven years, and i called the cable company and switched my phone over, which means a. i save about eight bucks on my cable bill, but more importantly b. i don't have a separate phone bill anymore, which c. saves me some bucks every month and d. gives me hd tv, with e. a ton more channels, even tho f. all the channel numbers have changed. but i get like ten different starz variants now. yay?

my inbox was unsurprisingly full when i got to work. at least it meant i was busy all day. and! you know how we have random fruit from the fruit guys? today's delivery included LYCHEES. so i took one home.

OH MY GOD I NEED TO GET RID OF THESE LINKS. brace yourselves. :D

the polish doctors who used science to outwit the nazis - they faked typhus, basically, as a way to save the residents of their villages. i love science.

very old fruitcake found in antarctica - it's believed to have been part of the explorer robert scott's expedition in 1910, and is much better preserved than the tin it came in. it's even almost edible!

in the same vein, a woman in sacramento walked into her local animal shelter and asked about the oldest dog they had, that no one wanted to adopt. and then she adopted him.

i know the news cycle has gone way past the tearing down of confederate statues, but if you feel the need for less offensive public statues, here you go. there's one in russia dedicated to the lab rats who gave their lives for the advancement of science.

do you remember martin shkreli, who bought a pharmaceutical company and yanked up the price of its major drug by 5000%? he's going on trial for securities and wire fraud, and the comments of potential jurors during the jury selection process are absolutely priceless.

watch a spanish artist build a secret studio under an overpass. i guess you can put your studio space anywhere if you're motivated enough.
