i live in a town that celebrates the fourth of july in june. by which i mean, on the thursday before the fourth, they set off fireworks across the street from my house. :D i had fried dough for dinner, too.
(
there was a muskrat bus parked at the end of the street. )
the bus was parked way down the street, about where cops started blocking the street to traffic. it must belong to a local arts organization or something. i wonder now if people think it's ok to sit on my front steps and hang out on my front porch because no one seemed to be home. i mean, i don't think the second or third floor neighbors had their lights on, and i didn't turn on any lights while i was inside. and if you don't think anyone's actually home, and thus no one is going to come outside and run you off, you might be more likely to think "hey, we can stand on that stranger's porch!" there's a little condo building down the street and they strung a bright orange fence-type barrier across the entrance to their parking lot, with a "keep out" sign so people wouldn't cluster in the lot to get away from the crowds on the sidewalk. i should try something like that next year.
"cheeky mare" made me giggle. it sounds so british (or australian), and i mean that in the most complimentary way.
