i'm going to read this entire series and enjoy the hell out of it

What I just finished reading:
lord john and the private matter, in which the case ended in a way i didn't see coming (mostly because i'm not sure how much set-up there was), but lord john continued to be charming and occasionally justifiably pissed off (in a very genteel upper-crust kind of way) and the story continued to have a subtle sense of humor and i continued to like all the supporting characters except the guy who was engaged to john's cousin. i wasn't super fond of him. but overall it was light and fun with occasional flashes of seriousness - lord john is gay in 1750s london, when such a thing can legally get you killed - and i just really enjoyed it.

What I am reading now:
"lord john and the succubus", which is a short story about... lord john investigating reports of a succubus among the ranks in germany. (in addition to being a lord he's also an army major, and has been attached to a company of prussians as a liaison. there are brits wandering around too, being allies of prussia and enemies of france.) it's part of a collection called lord john and the hand of devils, and this particular story comes between private matter and the next novel. it's vaguely supernatural-y but mostly not too dissimilar from the first one. i'm enjoying it too.

What I'm going to read next:
lord john and the brotherhood of the blade, the aforementioned next novel. :D i think he finds a nice gentleman in this one.

i cannot wait for it to be the weekend. it's a long weekend and my parents will be here for my cousin's kid's bar mitzvah, which means a. i'll probably get to go out to eat a few times, and b. pretty much the entire weekend is probably going to be given over to family. which also means c. i won't be able to do much editing of the bigbang. >.< and i have notes from one of my betas, even! but hey, food. :D and it's always nice to see the parental unit. and my sister's birthday dinner is friday - her birthday was yesterday - and i got her a completely adorable felt fried-egg magnet. it is so cute.

(yesterday was also the anniversary of the deaths of bonnie and clyde. twenty thousand people showed up for bonnie's funeral. one of the guys who was part of the ambush that killed them tried to keep the car, but the car's actual owner - because, you know, clyde stole it - sued him for it and won.)

i'm kind of weirdly entertained by how stiff and uncomfortable melania trump looks in pretty much all the press photos of the cheeto's middle east tour. she looks stiff and uncomfortable in a lot of press photos, actually, even the ones taken in the us. i don't really feel bad for her.

have a totally random reddit thread of pics of people's studies. famous people. :D (i haven't heard of a bunch of them but they're famous to someone.) they're easier to see on imgur. (dear-tiger! there's two for bulgakov!)

bonnie & clyde, melania trump, wednesday reading meme, interior design, fun with the fam
