fannish things and also some badassery

two things of a fannish nature:

fandom trumps hate, an online auction to benefit a raft of charities and progressive organizations.

is anyone going to confabulation? it's like wincon but with a new name. it's over memorial day weekend in pittsburgh and you should come. :D

i had a terrible idea and that was to suggest a roundtable to talk about the tiny show, once confabcon starts taking suggestions for panels and roundtables. no one would go to it but me, but i need to squee with people. i have successfully pimped to wrenlet, but that means the fandom is a fandom of three so far (at least for me) and i did the fandom-of-two thing already. (flight of the phoenix. me and wren were the entirety of the fandom that i was aware of.)

my last day at work before vacation was very chill. one of the tax associates i like is leaving - tomorrow's his last day - and a bunch of people went out for drinks. i did not, because i had all this shit to do before i vanish tomorrow, and... i have not done it. i still have to do my dishes and take out the trash and, uh, pack. also i don't get the new nbc channel after all, so i missed this is us on tuesday and the blacklist tonight. mediocre, comcast.

the death star battlestation of star wars fame. actually one of saturn's moons, but it has a very death-star-like appearance.

thanks to fannishliss, i bring the sebastian stan fans in the audience an interview with him in romanian. it sounds like italian to me. there are english subtitles in case you don't speak romanian. :D a couple times he kind of asks the interviewer what a word is, which i thought was kind of cute. apparently his mom is the reason he still speaks the language, because he speaks it with her. (i read that somewhere else, that he speaks romanian with his mom.) it's a nice interview.

a couple days ago a reporter named clare hollingworth died (she was 105, holy shit), and she might be most famous as the reporter who broke the story about the germans invading poland and starting ww2. she had some career, let me tell you. also impressive, from an article-writing standpoint, is the fact that pretty much the entire article is about her career and her work, and only at the end do they talk about her husbands and her love life. and it doesn't start with a comment about her appearance! or her relation to husband or kids! sad that that's noteworthy, but it means you get this really fabulous story about what she did with her life, rather than who she did or what she looked like doing it. she sounds like a badass.

confabcon, ugh comcast, new job second floor, tiny show, outer space, badass women, sebastian stan, fandom trumps hate
