i should be working on my nanonovel but i really want to go to bed. >.<
friday!
i saw two of my cousin's kids (the boy twin and the middle kid) in a high school production of how to succeed in business without really trying, which was really cute. the orchestra kind of drowned out the actors a lot, but when you could actually hear them, the kids sounded really good. there's a voiceover in the play - the main character has a "how to succeed" type book, and the voiceover is like the book reading itself - the guy who did it wasn't credited, but the program thanked "our steve rogers".
so yes, captain america chris evans did the voiceover for my cousin's kids' play. his sister's the drama teacher at the high school, his mom is local, and he apparently recorded the voiceover at his mom's house. the cast went over there and ran some lines (this is what the boy twin told me, without any more detail than that) and chris even recorded a little "good luck, break a leg" video for the cast.
i knew his voice sounded familiar.
saturday!
i kind of got roped into going to furniture stores with
tamalinn - she's looking for a dresser - it was frustrating for her, because she didn't find anything, but kind of fun. after she dropped me off back home i went to the grocery store, bought some decorative photo storage boxes (two of which i need to exchange for a bigger one >.< ), had dinner, packed snacks, and went off to the overnight portion of the nanowrimo 24-hour write-in. i managed 8600 words - including two sex scenes! - despite a. the snoring, b. the three or four people talking and watching something loudly on someone's laptop, and c. the guy sitting behind me making the most annoying noises ever. it sounded like he was listening to death metal through earphones, but forgot there were other people around and started singing/growling under his breath, just loud enough for me to hear. holy shit, dude, shut up. but 8600 words! i credit the massive number of taco chips i ate over the course of like six hours. seriously, it was a lot of chips.
the overnight ends at 6:30, and we were out of there at about that. the sun was rising, the temp was cold. i went to bed around seven. sunday morning. once a year i see sunrise from the wrong side and it's always weird, but i always feel such a sense of accomplishment.
sunday!
got up a little before eleven and was very chipper for having had not even four hours of sleep. go me. my parents are up from florida for thanksgiving, so sunday morning (well, it was almost noon) we met cousins on mom's side for brunch. pancakes were et, fun was had. i love pancakes. i don't eat them nearly often enough. we went back to the hotel where the parental unit is staying, i failed to take a nap, eventually we bestrirred ourselves and went back out to meet cousins from dad's side for dinner. which was chinese food, because jews. :D (this is where i learned that i was right, and chris evans really was in the kids' play.)
i had to leave a little early for curling, which we won, yay. :D we had eight points after the second end (an end is roughly equivalent to an inning, i guess), which is a lot, especially for us. someone on another team had pie, so we even got pie after we were done. pecan, yum.
also! also! IT SNOWED. \o\ /o/ \o\ /o/ not a lot - like, i didn't have to get the brush out of the back of my car - but enough to cover the roofs of the cars. i was very excited.
SNOW.
now it's just cold. i should perhaps turn my heat back on.
misc!
a brit broke the guinness world record for
bungee jumping to dunk a cookie in a cup of tea. (this is apparently a thing.) he dunked a hobnob, chosen for its structural integrity.
