a thing i forgot to mention about my sacrificial sushi on friday - it came with a little condiment cup of soy sauce, like the ones you get with your chinese takeout, and a little container to mix the soy sauce and wasabi in. convenient and adorable! i was kind of impressed. i also got surprise!miso soup, but i think because i ordered a set dinner and didn't get pick-and-choose sushi. and i like miso soup - altho wow, salty - so i wasn't going to complain. but the random little dish so you had something to mix the wasabi and soy sauce in was a really nice touch.
yesterday
tamalinn and i went furniture window shopping, where she found the couch of her dreams and i found bookcases that were a tch too big, and by a tch i mean two inches. sigh. i finally made a quiche, which suffers from a. the pie shells i bought being too shallow and thus the quiche being too flat, and b. not enough cheese! which is turning into a theme. i still have another pie shell, so next time i can make a cheesier quiche. on the other hand, the green onion is interesting in a generally positive way.
i had no idea the emmys were on last night until i was catching up on twitter this morning, and i'm so excited rami malek won for mr robot! aside from the fact that it's just really nice that an egyptian-american actor won for playing a character who ISN'T a terrorist. i mean, elliot could be played by anyone, but he's the person they cast. and even tho i don't watch orphan black, i'm pretty excited for tatiana maslany because she plays, what, half the characters? and that kind of effort deserves a reward. and margo martindale got best guest actress for the americans, and because i've liked her since justified (mags is still my favorite villain), i'm predisposed to squee.
aaaaand kate bishop is getting her own solo title. (for those of you who read comics.) very exciting!
the hubble apparently caught a comet disintegrating - this doesn't usually happen, on account of comets falling apart too quickly and too suddenly to be caught on tape. surprise!
an article about the politics of pockets. in case you were wondering if there was a history as to why ladies' clothes have decorative rather than practical pockets.
