yesterday my sister and i were talking about the new mission: impossible and lo and behold, ghost protocol is on right now. next time jeremy renner wants to seduce the bad guy. :D

we also saw ant-man, which i liked. i don't think i have anything to say about it, other than i'm glad the ants were so clearly cgi, otherwise i don't think i could've coped with all the swarming. i felt about ant-man the same way i felt about aou, in that there was A LOT of cgi, and after a while i just wanted to believe i was watching camera tricks and practical effects, rather than a lot of green screen. but it was fun and kind of silly and i think paul rudd is adorable, and i'm glad i finally got around to seeing it.

at work we've been divided into community groups as kind of a social thing - i think the theory is that you're supposed to meet and mingle with people who aren't in your department/service line/whatever, plus you get to do something fun. on friday my group took a lunch cruise around boston harbor. it was so nice, partly because we got the rest of the day off. :D it wasn't a big boat but there also weren't a lot of us, and we had lunch and got drink tickets (three! because so many people didn't show up) (well, it was a summer friday and the weather was gorgeous and i wasn't surprised) and basically chilled out for a couple hours. i can't get the pictures off my phone, tho, so you'll just have to imagine downtown boston as seen from the waterfront.

there's an abandoned chicken church in indonesia. (it just looks like a chicken. it's not a church for chickens.)

guy in texas shoots at armadillo. bullet ricochets off armadillo. guy is hit in the face with his own bullet. armadillo gets away.

apparently the 2022 winter olympics are being held in beijing, where there is no snow. they're going to make it all. that just seems so ridiculous and ridiculously wasteful.

animals get their own tiny road signs. a marketing agency in lithuania made the signs to remind people to share the road. the hedgehog crossing is my favorite sign. i know that comes as a huge surprise.

in the time it took me to type this, m:i ended and now i'm watching jk rowling learning about her great-grandfather. kinda cool.

wtf, chickens, movies, fun with coworkers, tiny things, hedgies, new job big office
