it might have been more interesting if i'd actually met those relatives
one of my mom's cousins is in town so my parents had a family (ie, cousins) lunch yesterday. i got to the house at 12:30 and left at 9:30. i was kind of peopled out, and there weren't even that many people there. my mom and her cousin - mostly the cousin - sortofkindof reminisced about various relatives, most of whom i never met, and the cousin mentioned that there's a whole cousins group on facebook, and now my mom is on facebook. O.O and i have never been so glad my online social life is other places.
i was always told that my grandfather and his mom and four of his sisters came to the us from lithuania in 1913, when he was thirteen, and at some point when they were crossing europe, he fell off the train. but no. it was 1905, and he was six. but he still fell off the train.
south carolina senate voted to take down the confederate flag from the state house. it has to pass the house of reps and the governor has to sign off on it, but it passed the senate by 37-3, and the governor actually called for it to come down. i don't think the flag will be up much longer.
i finally took the flannel off my bed. (it's been cool at night, ok?) it's only the beginning of july.
