happy birthday bleodswean! knitter of elephants, sharer of music, and fucking tremendous writer. a festive day calls for festive cake. :D

dancing boys: *samba*

also those.

this morning i met my sister for brunch and had fried chicken and waffle, mostly because chicken and waffles seems to be a thing and i've never had it. the fry was crisp and not greasy, the chicken was moist, the waffle had surprise!bacon in it, which is the best kind of bacon - unless you're veg*n or don't eat pig, i guess - and i ate a lot. also we got tiny blueberry muffins. we sat outside and it was lovely.

eventually i came home and changed my shoes and walked down to the square and sat in starbucks (because everywhere else was too crowded and i could sit by the window) and produced a bunch of words for my bigbang. i think i have two scenes, or a scene and a half, plus the final scene which is kind of epilogue-ish, and then i'll be DONE. well, done with the first draft, which is as per usual the firstiest draft that ever firsted. but it will be done. woot.

the random yard flower of the day:

it's kind of hard to tell, but there are little blue flowers in that house's tiny front yard.

also, planted tulips:

on the walk home i saw tie fighters

that someone had stenciled on the side of a building.

and then i went grocery shopping, and then i did laundry, and then i did my taxes and i get enough of a refund to buy a new couch. YAY. i'm very excited. i mean, i really need a new couch.

so it was a good day.

here's a weirdly soothing video of a guy scratching some napping capybaras.

two astronauts took a gopro on a spacewalk - homg, space.

the daily poem:

No shoes and a glossy
red helmet, I rode
on the back of my dad’s
Harley at seven years old.
Before the divorce.
Before the new apartment.
Before the new marriage.
Before the apple tree.
Before the ceramics in the garbage.
Before the dog’s chain.
Before the koi were all eaten
by the crane. Before the road
between us, there was the road
beneath us, and I was just
big enough not to let go:
Henno Road, creek just below,
rough wind, chicken legs,
and I never knew survival
was like that. If you live,
you look back and beg
for it again, the hazardous
bliss before you know
what you would miss.
