happy easter to them what celebrate it! and to them what don't, a lovely second day of passover sunday.
if medieval manuscripts are to be believed,
medieval rabbits were axe-wielding homicidal maniacs. just in case you thought the cute little bunnies everywhere today weren't out to get you. they are.
last night i went to my parents' house to eat leftovers and watch the ten commandments. (it's actually on tv right now. i might be watching it again.) charlton heston is kind of an over-actor and everyone sounds so actor-y and formal, and the women's costumes seem much more mid-50s than ancient egypt, and i swear nefretiri is wearing wedge heels, but still, i love it. and apparently it's pretty biblically accurate. and john derek is hot. and kinda pretty. watching it last night made me realize two things: a. i felt bad for ramses, and b. where was the moses/joshua slash?
your the ten commandments factlet for the night is that anne baxter, who played nefretiri, was frank lloyd wright's granddaughter.
my bigbang has now passed 30k. woot. i think i finally know how to end it, and more importantly, i think i know how to get there. it just needs a title. >.< and, you know, for me to finish it. i have three more weekends. i can do it. i hope.
the daily poem:
I
When the sea has devoured the ships,
And the spires and the towers
Have gone back to the hills.
And all the cities
Are one with the plains again.
And the beauty of bronze,
And the strength of steel
Are blown over silent continents,
As the desert sand is blown -
My dust with yours forever.
II
When folly and wisdom are no more,
And fire is no more,
Because man is no more;
When the dead world slowly spinning
Drifts and falls through the void -
My light with yours
In the Light of Lights forever!
