the new part-time receptionist theoretically starts march 2! which i will believe when she actually shows up. she'll be there three full days and i guess part of a fourth day, which means i might still have to sit at the front desk a day and a half. (the office manager says "we might have to make a rotating schedule" which, again, i'll believe it when i see it.) they're still (also theoretically) looking for a full-timer. someone from georgia answered the job listing with "i'm available for a phone interview" and "i'll come to boston after i get the job" and no, honey, that's not how it works. you kind of have to have a face-to-face interview in the place you'll actually be working before they decide whether or not to hire you.
so i may or may not be back at my own desk in a week and a half. maybe.
it did not snow for most of today! shocker! there was snizzle* when i left work, but otherwise, NO SNOW. how sad that that's actually newsworthy.
thank
jola. i did. :D
it's so cold in ithaca, ny, that
the tourist board is directing people to the florida keys. seriously.
what record-breaking snow looks like in parts of the country that aren't all greater boston! there's a lot of ice in new york. O.O
where are the women hermits? the hermit narrative (think thoreau) is overwhelmingly male. so why aren't there lady hermits? this was a really interesting article, but mostly it made me want a story about a female hermit. i mean, one who wasn't necessarily an ascetic christian mystic in the middle ages.
PREVIEW FOR VIKINGS! IT COMES BACK TOMORROW NIGHT! JOY AND HALLELUJAH AND FUNKY-ASS HAIR!
*snow drizzle.
