i didn't get snowed on in any significant way, sigh

IT SNOWED TODAY. I WAS VERY EXCITED. it didn't stick, tho.

let's pretend it's wednesday so i can do the reading meme and yesterday's day of babble.

What I just finished reading:
blade of the immortal: raining chaos (vol 28) and beyond good and evil (vol 29), which means i am CAUGHT UP. there's only one more volume and then the series is done. i think i've been reading it for ten years. yowza. if anyone's interested in bloody, convoluted, occasionally completely bugnuts japanese comics, this is a good one. it's written and drawn by hiroaki samura and i wish i'd remembered to mention his name last time.

What I am reading now:
the last apocalypse: europe at the year 1000 ad, by james reston, jr, which is into moorish spain right now (after having gone through lots of vikings) which is something i know nothing about and is thus really, really interesting.

apparently 1000 was about when EVERYONE in europe who wasn't already christian started converting. that's pretty much the only through-line to the book. but i'm learning stuff and enjoying it, so.

What I'm going to read next:
something about medieval persia, maybe, or moorish spain, because i could stand to learn a little more. and there was some pretty neat shit going on.

yesterday's daily babble was how i take my coffee and also, what's up for bigbang 2015, for wendy. first, coffee, which i take with chocolate and whipped cream and sometimes extra milk, and occasionally with condensed milk. (vietnamese coffee. it's delish.) i don't like how coffee tastes, which is a bummer because it smells SO GOOD, and because i like coffee in other things. (i bought some halvah with espresso when i was in vermont for thanksgiving.) so i drink it if it tastes like chocolate.

and as for my bigbang, i have a bunch of ridiculous cameos, the vaguest ever semblance of a plot, no ending, and a couple of plot points. i have no idea how it ends but i also have no idea where to start it. it should be fun to write, once i figure out what i'm doing.

weendeer!

curling has now made it to brooklyn. is that the sign of true cool? or overexposure?

the claims post for insmallpackages is open for claiming, and stuff is already appearing on the get post. if you're feeling generous and creative, check out the claims post - there might be something you want to do for someone. my favorite so far is the picspam of bees. cute and fuzzy!
