barry the pug gets a bath in the sink, and boy is he happy about it. (no, seriously. he is one happy puppy.)
did you know owls can swim? at least this one can. it's doing the breast stroke.
world's oldest doodle discovered - it's 500,000 years old. holy crap.
3d printed stargate lights up and dials! sadly it does not create a wee wormhole. wouldn't that be the coolest thing, tho? you could send stuff between stargates. i'd probably use it to send and receive baked goods, personally.
the first meal eaten on the moon contained bacon, because come on, bacon.
the last homesteads of wonder valley, california - back in the late 40s you could buy land from the government for $10-20 an acre, and all you had to do was build a house on it. so people did. but it was the desert and there was no infrastructure, and most of the houses (which i think were mainly vacation houses) were ultimately abandoned. but it was the 50s! people homesteading like they did back at the turn of the last century, when there was even less infrastructure. i dunno, i just thought it was really cool that people were still doing that in the 50s.
and speaking of abandoned buildings, there used to be a shit-ton of
little highway rest stops all up and down the interstates, and a lot of them are abandoned as well. a texas photographer took it upon herself to document a lot of them, first because she thought they were cool, and then because a lot of them are coming down.
new designs for american money - pretty fabulous but sadly not actual designs (they're for a thesis project).
another design project for art school -
redesigned harry potter covers. so fucking cool.
remember the fallen. (ie, a downed at-at for your front lawn.)
this is a really good urban fantasy story, with cops and monsters and a latina main character.
american's national parks in winter - gimme some snow, baby.
an infographic of mythical creatures, which i share mostly for the sentient roll of cotton that suffocates people in the middle of the night. wtf, japan?
and in the time it took me to type all that, it stopped snowing. sigh and hmph.
