i have a blister on my finger and a bigbang to edit, yay!
today was community day (i think that's what it's called) at work, which means either you participate in one of four community service type volunteer projects with your fellow employees, or you take a vacation day, as the office was closed. i ended up at the pine street inn, a homeless-services kind of place - it's more than just a shelter - helping in the kitchen with three other admin folks and a group from another company. we sorted hot dogs and cut up sweet potatoes and canned hams and chicken breasts (which smelled SO GOOD) and sorted bread, and by the time we were done, which was about noon, i had blisters on my finger from holding the knife. >.< and my hand hurt. >.< but it was actually kind of fun.
(while i was cutting sweet potatoes and hams and chicken breasts, i tried to distract myself from how sore and tired my hand was getting by contemplating sebastian stan's fucking pretty face, as one does.)
and then i came home and changed my clothes and went back out and started editing my bigbang in earnest thanks to getting some notes from my beta. i can already see something we disagree on but other than that her comments are helpful and i'm getting excited to post it. i mean, after i finish editing the story and writing the author's note and putting the inevitable post of extras (by which we mean pictures :D ) together. but yay, bigbang. hopefully people will like it, and even if they don't, they should love the art. the art is FABULOUS.
i tried to watch dominion last night (syfy's new series, apparently based on the movie legion which i liked even tho it's not that good) (it has paul bettany and dennis quaid and adrienne palicki and tyrese gibson and kevin durand and i'm easy :D ) and couldn't concentrate on it the first time around. i'm not sure how i feel about it. tv shows about angels and their wars with each other and the humans caught in the crossfire are possibly not my thing. i liked the coed shower room, tho, because they showed wet naked guybutt as well as wet naked girlbutt, and because when the girl showed up to take her shower, the two guys already in the scene didn't give her the leering once-over, and neither did the camera. giles anthony stewart head is in it with an american accent, which is much too weird for me. he didn't sound like himself. i'll probably watch it next week to see what happens next, mostly out of curiosity.
mostly enjoyed defiance, tho. i really like nolan and irisa's relationship, and i don't like stahma at all but as a character she's interesting.
501st legion sends little stormtrooper suit to bullied girl - she was being bullied at school, apparently for liking star wars, so the 501st (aka totally massive organization of star wars fen) sent her custom-built stormtrooper armor. which she has since decided to send on to another girl who needs it. 'scuse me, there must be some dust in my eye.
world's first smell message sent from paris to new york. it smelled like champagne and macarons, natch.

fatal victorian fashion - like, clothes dyed green with arsenic. and tulle skirts that could set a ballerina on fire when she got too close to the gas lamps onstage. and highly toxic and hugely popular synthetic mauve dye. and stuff people kept wearing even tho they knew it might kill them. hey, i'd wear those melon-colored shoes. those are gorgeous. my feet would look really stylish as i was falling over.
