fluff!

tamalinn is here - yay! - altho not technically here-here, by which i mean i'm home and she left to meet a friend for dinner. today we met others of her friends for brunch and then walked down to the fluff festival, which is a festival for, you know, marshmallow fluff, which was born in somerville. they had a lot of food booths, a bouncy castle (which we did not go in *sigh*), a beer garden (where we actually spent most of our time) (you could get a spoonful of fluff on your beer) (the fluff for the pumpkin beer was cinnamon flavored, and if i wanted a pumpkin beer - well, more than a taste of someone else's, anyway - i totally would have had it with fluff), kids from the high school selling fluffernutters to benefit the music department, fluff stuff for sale, and apparently fluff bowling, which i only know from the web site because we didn't actually see it. the weather was gorgeous so there were A LOT of people out, plus A LOT of dogs.

tangent: as we were walking down there we passed a couple of guys with a very pretty and very sweet dog and a very cute small girlchild, so we stopped to pet the dog and they briefly stopped to let us, and as they continued on their way and we continued on ours, we commented on how pretty the dog was, and the guy who was holding the little girl's hand said jokingly "what about mine?" and tamalinn's friend fran said "well, petting a stranger's child is usually considered kind of pervy", and the guy was amused.

tamalinn and fran wanted a beer so we hung out in the beer garden and some of her other friends joined us, and eventually everyone had to go so i got a fluffernutter on the way out and tamalinn and i walked home. i've never been to the fluff festival and i feel kind of retroactively deprived.

fluff festival volunteers are apparently called... fluffers. heh.

and! sleepy hollow came up during brunch! so for once in my life i could have a conversation with people in a non-fannish setting about tv shows i actually watch! look, i was excited. and i got to try and explain how batshit the show is, but why that shouldn't stop someone from watching. altho i did mention that if you happened to want historical accuracy in your historically-based tv, you should probably skip it.

i did watch haven last night (and that also came up during brunch, as tamalinn wanted to share with the table how serious everyone on the show is) but i'm not sure what to say about it. i spent a not-inconsiderable amount of time either trying to explain it to tamalinn or listening to her talk to me (and i did tell her twice "wait a sec, i need to hear this", which seemed politer than "dude, shut up, i'm trying to watch my show") so i'm not sure what i have to say about it, other than a spoilery thing, which is that hulked-out duke is pretty hot. i like dwight and i didn't love that duke felt a need to choke him, but that scene, damn. i also kinda liked that jordan could basically scare the disembodied blood with her pain hands. and duke admitting that he's kind of afraid of his trouble, and goes out of his way to avoid it, because it feels so good when it kicks in. aw, duke. i want them to bring back audrey already, tho. i miss the ot3.

i should perhaps make myself some food, considering all i've eaten today is brunch (two eggs, two sausage patties, some toast, home fries) and a fluffernutter, and i have a broccoli i should eat before it goes bad. mmm, broccoli.

fun with friends, sleepy hollow: still batshit, fluff, haven
