since lj was down yesterday, let's pretend it's wednesday. :D
What I just read:
miss garnet's angel, which never did hit "very funny" or "witty" but which i ultimately mostly enjoyed, probably because i liked some of the secondary characters and it's set in venice. and i did like the way the main character changed, and that she was so self-aware.
and after that, the silver pigs, by lindsey davis, which is essentially a noirish murder mystery with bonus political plot - or a political plot with bonus murder mystery - set in ancient rome. the narrator has a dry sarcastic sense of humor that i liked a lot, and it read like it had been thoroughly researched, which i always appreciate in a historical. i even liked the way the romance unfolded.
and today, started and finished blade of the immortal which has ceased to make sense plot-wise because it's up to vol 26 (i think) and that's a lot of scheming and fighting and dying and i can't keep everyone straight. there's some pretty fabulous brutality in this one, tho.
What I'm reading now:
desert queen: the extraordinary life of gertrude bell: adventurer, adviser to kings, ally of lawrence of arabia, by janet wallach, which i haven't actually started yet but i put it in my bag for tomorrow.
What I'm reading next:
do people plan their reading that far in advance? i can't figure out what i'm going to read next until i'm ready to read it.
omg hannibal. this episode has barely started and we're already watching a guy make cello strings out of a person. ewewew. "you're not a psychopath. altho you may be attracted to them." well, hannibal, he is interested in you....
and will, honey, if your pack of adorable adopted dogs are all apparently ignoring the animal noises coming from the chimney right behind them, you might want to entertain the possibility that you're hearing things.
i'm really not used to seeing hannibal fighting someone hand-to-hand.
now i'm watching blade 3 and look, surprise!patton oswalt! i didn't realize he was in this, altho to be honest i mostly watch it for ryan reynolds and the vampire pom so i don't tend to remember who else was in it.
