first half: the high school episode
interesting - and not surprising - that the skinwalker is trying to sway duke to her side (ie, help me get audrey into the barn so the troubles stop) by playing on the fact that he loves audrey and audrey loves nathan. as if that will change his mind. c'mon, duke, you know you've considered the threesome. his "you're not wearing claire, you don't get to shrink me" was cute, too.
holy shit, teen!duke! but adult!duke is cuter. and i wish he'd kept the ponytail.
my money's on the motivational speaker dude as the person causing the de-aging. janine's trouble being that everything she eats turns to cake kind of cracks me up. i mean, cake! what a ridiculous trouble.
i'm not sure how i feel about this sudden teagues-on-teagues violence. in the duke-and-nathan-go-back-in-time episode, which i just saw like two hours ago, in the final iteration of the alternate future, we learn that one of the brothers killed the other, and now i wonder if we're supposed to look back at that and think it's because of the barn/end-of-the-troubles/fact that they've always been kind of divided on what secrets to tell and what to keep. why does dave need/want to know another way to end the troubles, besides audrey going into the barn? i guess if there's a way to do it that doesn't end with audrey vanishing, it's worth exploring, but man, what a violent path to take.
if the troubles end when audrey goes into the barn, and if arla wants that, why does she have to be right there when it happens? why does she need to be at the barn too? to make sure audrey goes in? or is this the alternate way to end the troubles that she mentioned?
yeah, the motivational speaker. i guess i feel bad for him? because he was bullied and didn't quite get over it. i like that he still likes janine, tho. it's sweet.
(duke meant to put the snake in nathan's locker! in some circles, this means he likes him. :D )
duke being "oh thank god i'm an adult again" is adorable. and when nathan is discussing how they'll figure out the barn and get to keep audrey, of course duke is right there. because both her boys have her back. :D
i wonder if arla knows about the guard. if she does, she totally should've gone to them first, because they want the same thing she does, and it never hurt to have some help.
oh! she wants james back! because lucy took him there! to bring him back to life! i didn't see that coming. maybe it's better she didn't go to the guard.... does that mean james is still in the barn? in an alternate dimension? that explains why there's no body in his coffin. but why do they both think james is still there?
it's audrey's boss! coming out of the barn! with james! that's a wrinkle. just when i think the ptb have answered a question or tied up a plot thread, there's another one.
so there was that.
second half: the actual finale
duke and nathan working together makes me squee. also, duke slapping nathan in the face to tell him to calm the fuck down because the troubles are still troubling and audrey's still alive made me giggle.
so audrey actually gets a choice about the barn, but if she chooses not to go in, meteors will keep dropping on haven until it's rubble. i knew that was too easy....
"i'm tired of living in a disaster movie". poor duke. (and what a him thing to say.) but i'm not sure i 100% buy that he's working with arla to get audrey into the barn. i mean, he doesn't want audrey to vanish. aaaaaand he was just playing her, to get audrey and james together. of course.
"i'm not ready to leave. either of you." <3! and of course both guys volunteer to go into the barn with her. the love and protection is strong as hell here.
i hope audrey and nathan are leaving a trail of breadcrumbs so they can find their way out of the barn again.... and as soon as nathan suggests blowing it up, it spits them back out. to show them that someone already tried to blow it up and failed? ok so it was a memory but still. what if they set explosives inside it?
NATHAN IS JAMES' DAD. "JAMES' FATHER ISN'T EVEN BORN YET." everyone who theorized that was right! (and they had sex in a car? how high school. heh, tho.)
oh hey, preview for defiance! now with bonus tony curran! yay. :D
is it possible that "james" that nathan was just talking to is a manifestation of the barn, and not the actual james? so james' death doesn't necessarily end the troubles and negate audrey having to go into the barn, and there's another way. (yes this is kind of wishful thinking but still. i can't see the barn as anything other than a slightly malevolent power. maybe it's all the white corridors and regularly-spaced unmarked doors. it doesn't look neutral, it looks very vaguely horror-movie, before all the blood and body parts.)
"i'm not taking advice from a walking purse"! hee, duke.
i actually feel really bad for jordan. i do think she's trying to stop the troubles partly so she can have a chance at nathan again, but i also think most of the reason is so she can just touch people again. all people, not just the guy she likes.
wait, vince is the head of the guard? the hell?
sooooooo now that james is going to die, does this mean the troubles will end and audrey can stay in haven? or not, because it has to be someone she loves and she doesn't love him because she doesn't know him. so that leaves duke or nathan. which, no. there's no way audrey will let either of them die. altho it would tie in with the tattooed person who's supposed to kill duke.... but if audrey has to be the instrument of death, she's not tattooed, so forget it.
how horrible is this, that love is the one thing that brings the barn and makes it possible for her to go back inside. love is the one thing that makes her not want to go! (but how can she stop the troubles permanently? because it sounds like there's a way.) i mean, it's horrible in a "how ironic" kind of way, because i think love was always what drove her.
this is breaking my heart! watching audrey say goodbye to her boys, and duke telling nathan that he hates it too but they have to let her go. aaaaaand admitting he's in love with her. maybe you guys can comfort each other, now that nathan will be able to feel touch again....
now audrey's gone, duke's gone, nathan told him to go after audrey to keep her safe! the barn's gone, nathan's alive in haven, and the meteors are still falling? what fuckery is this?? man, i hate cliffhangers.
ok! fellow haven fen! come talk to me!
