you'd think i didn't want to watch spn, for how long it took me to actually do it

i finally watched the spn s8 premiere and i didn't hate it! i think liked it, even. i just have two questions: why didn't sam even try to look for dean? i get why he wanted to build himself a normal life - hunting never brought him (and the people he loves) anything but pain and death, and he told dean to go find lisa and stop hunting and live like a normal person at the end of s5, and dean did, so it makes sense that sam would do the same, and he didn't know dean was in purgatory and wouldn't know to try and get him out, but did he just assume from day one that dean was dead, game over, there was no coming back? and if so, WHY? if anyone knows that death isn't the end, it's the winchesters. so i don't get why he didn't at least try to find where his brother had gone, at least in the beginning. is it because he also told dean not to try to get him out of hell after he jumped into the cage? neither of them made any promises this time, and i find it kind of weird (and, ok, a bit distressing) that sam just accepted from the outset that dean was gone.

and second, how did he know to go to, er, was that rufus' house? to find dean when dean did come back? i'm assuming dean finally got thru to a number that sam answered, but that was most anti-climactic "i haven't seen you in a year, i thought you were dead/i thought i'd never get out of purgatory" brotherly hug ever. yeesh. altho i kind of giggled at dean spraying sam with borax (well, i guessed it was borax, on account of leviathan) and salt and sam going "it's really me! can i just say hello to you??"

now that kevin has (somewhere) a tablet that will tell them how to close the gates of hell forever, that's how i think the show should end - the gates of hell close, demons are banished from the earth, hunters are now out of a job, sam and dean get to live like normal people for good. sam can get another dog, dean can, uh, i dunno. join the police force. become a firefighter. (because let's be honest, he's exactly the kind of person who would run into the burning building while everyone else was running out.) continue to save people. the family business!

crowley calling sam "moose" cracked me up, as did his comment about sam's sideburns. hee.

oh, and i liked that sam kind of got the dog first, and then the girl, rather than him meeting the girl and the two of them getting a dog. and dean was all cranky about the dog having been in the car! (and "never take a joint from a guy named don", hee.) where's the thank you for sam actually fixing her up and taking care of her, dude?

i'm not quite sure why dean and whatshisface from purgatory still have to be in contact, tho. i understood the deal was whatshisface's soul hitches a ride with dean out of purgatory, dean restores his soul to his skeleton, and that's it. so why are they still talking to each other? it really looks like whatshisface is going to go off and commit demon shenanigans, and dean will be forced to put him down. no doubt there will be a lot of secret-keeping and lying to sam in the meantime. hmph.

also sam still needs a haircut, but that's not a spoiler, and i will continue to say so until he gets one. i like the sideburns, tho. they're kind of elvisy. :D

yesterday my sister had a tupperware party - yes, people still have those - and i wasn't actually planning on buying anything because i have enough storage containers, but tupperware makes kitchen gadgets too! and i am weak in the face of nifty kitchen gadgets. so i got a little chopper thing so i won't cry like a baby every time i have to chop onions for something. it's green, it's really cute. the party itself was fun - my sister has fun friends, and she puts on a good party spread - but the tupperware consultant was PUSHY AS HELL about getting people to host their own parties (she asked me twice), and apparently about convincing my sister to sell the stuff on her own. which, no.

tonight is the hell on wheels finale and i expect blood and fire and the desire to smack durant, i think i kinda like revolution or at least i want to know what happens from week to week and i'm all curious about the backstory, and i'm still full of duke feels from having watched friday's haven twice. oh, and i volunteered for a panel at wincon. O.O the fairy tale panel, which is friday afternoon. come see me make a fool of myself in front of people!

haven, wincon formerly winchestercon, tupperware no seriously, supernatural recap s8, revolution, fun with my sister, hell on wheels
