my sister because she loves me got us tickets to see duran duran tonight. they played at foxwoods casino, which is two hours south of boston and their closest stop to us. they're all looking kind of old, except for nick who doesn't look like he's changed at all in twenty years, but they still look good. well, my sister thought john looked "ragged" but i had to disagree - i always thought john was the cutest - and simon's got facial hair and i'm not a fan, but still. simon's voice is still good, anyway, and he's very much an entertainer and all the guys looked like they were enjoying themselves and the show was a lot of fun. they played some songs from their new album which neither i nor my sister knew, and they didn't play rio (which we just did not understand, considering it was one of their biggest hits) (and they played a bunch of hits - girls on film, the reflex, union of the snake, hungry like the wolf, save a prayer, come undone, ordinary world), but simon threw in a random bit of relax (the frankie goes to hollywood song) in the middle of one of their songs altho now i can't remember which one because my memory is just that good. >.< the audience was all into it and i'd guess 95% of the people there were middle(ish) aged folks who were fans back in the day, people who would've had rio and seven and the ragged tiger on vinyl.
anyway. i never saw them in concert when they were huge, but it was a nice nostalgia trip to see them now. my sister was really the durannie in the family but i always liked them, and they put on a thoroughly enjoyable show.
