holy shit dave sim has a kickstarter. O.O hands up everyone who read cerebus (even if you gave up at some point because of a. the story, b. the lack of story, c. dave being kind of a jackass as a person, or d. a combination of the above). anyway. evidently the kickstarter is to raise funds to make high society (one of the graphic novels, aka "phonebooks" [1]) an audiobook and ebook. which, well, on the one hand it would be really fucking cool to be able to sell digital cerebus to a new generation of comic book readers (especially since it takes up so much less space than paper cerebus), but an audiobook? o.O i mean, isn't part of what makes comics comics the fact that they have art as well as text? how do you translate that into an audiobook? altho it looks like they're also going to add a shit-ton of extras and random stuff - dave does commentary! - so maybe it's worth it.
i've had bon jovi's living on a prayer stuck in my head since this morning. i blame
yi_sen.
[1] so-called because they are MASSIVE for graphic novels/trade paperbacks. they're doorstoppers. i mean, high society is 500 pages. ...referring to something as a phonebook is really old-fashioned, isn't it. the first issue of cerebus came out in 1977. it has a good excuse.
