happy birthday (slightly late) to ragingpixie (fellow fan of the frosting! and also writer of hot men!) and kita0610 (fellow fangirl! and also member of the tribe!)! there are a lot of ! in there.... anyway, i hope your birthdays were fab and full of good wishes and cake. :D

dancing boys: *high kicks*

cee_m is running a fandom charity exchange which is currently raising money for planned parenthood. and yes, i know the susan g komen foundation kindasorta reversed their position on pp, but nowhere did they say they'll necessarily continue giving pp grants, and anyway women's health organizations can always use more money.
fandom_helps! it's on dw but don't let that turn you off! it's for a good cause. :D bidding officially opens on feb 14 so you have some time to decide whether or not you can offer something, and if so, what. i may or may not have totally ignored that and bid on something anyway. >.<

speaking of good causes, the girls scouts had set up a kiosk in the mall on saturday so i had to buy a box. i mean, they were right there! and girl scouts are always hard to resist. they're SO CUTE. and according to them, cookies make good super bowl snacks. hee.

there were also girl scouts in the harvard square t station, so i had to buy another box. one of the troops in, uh, colorado? i think? accepted a transgender girl into the troop, which is cool in and of itself - the gsa statement said something like "if she presents as a girl and her parents treat her like a girl, then she's a girl and we welcome her" - but there was the usual freakout from small minds, threats to boycott the scouts and their cookies, yadda yadda, so i figure buying some thin mints and caramel delights is not only supporting the girl scouts in general (full disclosure: i was a brownie when i was wee :D ) but also supporting an inclusive organization. not that it's a difficult decision.... i mean, thin mints!

the other exciting thing that happened on saturday was i was the 100th customer at the chick-fil-a in the mall food court, so i got my lunch for free. woot. (i realize there's some irony in buying girl scout cookies to support an inclusive organization, and then intending to buy a chick-fil-a sandwich and support a NON-inclusive business, but did i mention it was free?)

and then i saw shame because it was playing in davis square and i wanted to see it, and i'm not sure how i feel about it except that michael fassbender and carey mulligan were both really, really good. but my god did both their characters need therapy. O.O who else saw it and wants to talk about it?

my curling game last night got moved from 6:15 to 1 on account of the super bowl (they moved all the 6:15 games), which i thought was kind of amusing, and the other team won by A LOT, but they also brought super bowl type snacks for afterwards so it was ok. and i knew we were going to lose. and then i went to my parents' house to eat chili and watch the game, and even tho i should probably be a pats fan because, you know, boston, and i'm kind of disappointed they lost, i can't find it in myself to be too upset. the giants played better football and they deserved to win. i have no idea what the rivalry is like between eli and payton manning (or if there even is one), but i was perversely pleased for eli that he won the super bowl in his brother's stadium. heh. i even liked the halftime show, which surprised me but maybe shouldn't have.

was there something else that someone needed people to pimp?
fandom_helps is the only pimp i remember.

soul train flash mob - to honor creator and host don cornelius, who killed himself last week, about 100 people descended on times square to boogie. scroll to the bottom of the article for some video and folks dancing on roller skates. super cool.

things what are nifty, movies, psa, girl scout cookies, pimp, curling, super bowl
