dancing boys: *party down*
also also, happy birthday to my mom, who turns a Significant age and is the reason i'm not in new orleans right now. i hope someone is eating beignets and crawfish for me....
i liked criminal minds last night,
especially morgan and spencer pranking each other. i don't expect pranking on cm! i was thoroughly amused, and i liked the reminder that hey, these guys are actually friends who tease each other, and not just coworkers. altho did spencer's "i'm getting you back by SCREAMING INTO YOUR EAR" recording say something like "don't prank an mit graduate"? please tell me i misheard or misunderstood, because i thought spencer went to cal tech.
also i loved the scene with hotch and jack at the end. it made me all heart-clenchy. i mean, this kid is being mean to jack at school, and not only does jack not tell his dad, he tries to befriend the kid! and when hotch says "i thought we could talk to mommy, it's been a while, you can talk about anything that might be bothering you", jack is all "everything's cool, i just don't want you to be sad". oh, my heart. (i was impressed that jack's teacher was not only aware of the kid's bullying but also took steps to prevent it. i don't know how on-the-ball elementary teachers generally are when it comes to that kind of thing - i mean, that might actually be reflective of the real world - but as kids move into middle and high school, i'd bet teachers get less and less involved unprompted.)
the case seemed a bit columbine-influenced, altho the unsub wasn't bullied so much as he was ignored, and the original shooter seemed to mostly be a teenage psychopath rather than a target. i liked how emotionally cohesive the team was, and i always love watching them have to revise their profile after they've given it. and it wasn't nearly as sad as last week, altho it certainly wasn't cheerful.
i still don't trust the ptb to not fuck up this season in some fashion, but so far it hasn't been too bad.
the shadows of saturn's rings - evidently we can't really see the shadows that the rings cast on saturn's surface because of where earth is in relation to the sun - vs where saturn is in relation to the sun - but this is why we have orbiting satellites with cameras. :D
pumpkin pie, zombies optional - aka the funniest recipe for pumpkin pie that you will ever read. it made me hungry, which if you know me at all should come as no surprise.
glbt culture in the age of steam - ostensibly for steampunkers who want a little more varied glbt representation, but also for people like me who don't do steampunk but think the intersection of queer folks and victorian-era culture and history all over the world is pretty cool.
