all week i've been totally confused as to what day it was. i'm relieved it's finally friday so i now have a clue.
i probably do have things to say, but they're probably all writing related, and anyway it's busy at work and i have stuff to do that i actually get paid for. have some links instead. :D they're nifty, i promise.
house collapsing under weight of waaaaaay too many books - a canadian woman's neighbor had resorted to burning to get rid of all their books, so the woman rescued them. all 350k of them. she and her husband had to buy a little house and put it on their property to hold them. it's thirty tons of books. (if i had all the time in the world i'd try to get in touch with her and offer to sort thru and try to organize them.)
optical delusions and tiny realities - teeny dioramas! creepily realistic! but also really cool!
yiddish for the 21st century - who says yiddish is a dead language? :D
letters of note - scans of letters to or from famous(ish) people. like, there's one slash wrote at age fourteen to a girl who'd broken up with him because he talked about his guitar too much, and there's a condolence letter from queen victoria to mary todd lincoln after president lincoln was assassinated, and one to president truman from the father of a boy who was killed in the korean war, and a memo from matt stone outlining changes he and trey parker made (or didn't) to the south park movie, and a ranty letter from hunter s thompson to an executive at an independent movie studio, and more. lots more.
ten funky-ass treehouses - well, eight treehouses, a treerestaurant, and a treeteahouse. the treerestaurant is built on a concrete tree and not a real one, but the effect is still pretty nifty.
