happy father's day to the fathers on the flist! (i know there are a couple of you....) i hope your kids and your partners treat you well. :D

we took my dad out for brunch and i ate WAY TOO MUCH - as one does - and on the way home i passed an apartment open house, so i went in to see it. small place, nicely done. roof access, which comes with the option to build a deck if you want. (pretty damn cool.) the kitchen was really tiny but had good appliances and nice cabinets, but there was no parking and the laundry was shared by the whole building and was in the basement. (this is what i have now, altho i get a driveway to share.) and y'know, if i'm going to shell out for an apartment, i want a washer/dryer in the unit and a dedicated parking space. i'm tired of hauling my laundry up and down the back stairs all the time and having to save quarters so i can wash my clothes.

(someone right now is no doubt thinking this makes me incredibly entitled and spoiled, and that may be, but there are enough condos for sale around here with in-unit laundry and a parking space that i don't think it's asking too much to want them.)

afterwards, myself and another woman who was looking at the apartment (and who recognized me from the starbucks across the street from my office, which is kind of cool and kind of weird) were standing on the sidewalk trying to figure out if the apartments on the first floor were studios - i remembered tamalinn telling me they were, altho i couldn't remember the context of that conversation - and the girl who owned the apartment we were standing in front of heard us talking - her door was open but the screen was shut, so she could get a breeze thru her place - and came out to say yes, the ground-floor units were studios, and did we want to come inside and see hers. which was really, really sweet. so we did! it was a very cute studio with a comparatively giant back deck. she said she loved living in the building. both she and the other girl in the apartment (could've been a visiting friend, could've been a girlfriend - there were two last names on the mailbox) were really nice about letting these two total strangers tramp thru the place. sometimes i really love where i live.

my bigbang goes up on tuesday. i'm very excited.

psa, i love where i live
