spn meta for 4x21 (prepare for babble)

May 09, 2009 19:52

this started out as a response to writingpathways's meta here, and then it got too long to be a comment. it's been a very long time since i felt i had this much to say about an episode of spn, so i figured i'd let myself go to it. warnings for incoherence.

weakness, demon blood, monsters, love, and control. spoilers for 4x21, natch )

all i know is that if the "Jus En Bello" scenario played out again NOW Sam would be for ripping out the girl's heart ... who was right then, Ruby or Dean?

well, nancy died anyway, so it probably doesn't matter.... me, i think dean was right. but he couldn't have known she'd be killed.

I agree, I think Dean was right in JiB, too. It's just not right to sacrifice virgins and it's something that followers of evil do, not followers of light, which is what Dean intrinsically is and what Sam used to be. Now, not so much.

i think by the end of mystery spot, when dean had been dead several months, sam was tending that way too, towards "sacrifice the virgin if it gets you the result you need". but i don't remember for sure. but if he did, then it's less the demon blood pointing him towards evil and more that he's just wired to be more interested in achieving his goal than how he does it. dean obviously doesn't know all this, but if he did, he might be less inclined to totally blame the blood for sam's current behavior....

sam no doubt still considers himself a force for good, because his aims are (to his mind) pure - kill lilith, stop the apocalypse, save the world. i doubt the show wants us to see him that way, tho. and dean sure as hell doesn't.
