(jump the shark)
why do they still have john's phone? how are they paying for john's phone?
cousin oliver's diner, heh. i never watched the brady bunch but i know that's a shark-jumping brady bunch reference.
i dunno, i don't buy that this kid is really john's, altho i guess it's possible, and i can't think of what else he would be, or why he'd go to all this trouble to make it look like john really was his dad. there are probably other ways of luring the winchesters into your trap without going to all that trouble.
always with the scissors, dean. good thing he's not claustrophobic....
this kid kinda cracks me up. "you're my brothers, you wouldn't lie to me." oh, adam, honey, you're talking to two boys who lie to strangers as a matter of course, and lie to each other as easy as breathing. (not that they always lie well, but they have no qualms about trying.)
so joe the deputy had some help from john the hunter. surprise. i wonder why joe became a bartender, tho.
i bet john and joe killed the current thing's parent/sibling/partner back in 1990.
hands up everyone who's surprised by this turn of events. yeah, didn't think so. so maybe the thing john killed in 1990 was adam!thing's dad and, uh, what's his mom's name? her husband. and this whole thing was a giant trap after all. whatever adam and mom are, they're impervious to holy water and silver.
i'd say dean was exorcising some anger there by beating in adam!ghoul's head....
and we still have five minutes left for a "distill the whole episode into the last few minutes" heart-to-heart between the boys.
we knew this in s1, dean, that sam and john were so much more alike than you and john. and sam thinks it's a compliment and dean... not so much.
i'll be totally honest - i almost never expect to actually like the episodes any more. i'm always expecting too much mytharc and angst and woe and angels and demons and brothers at odds with each other. but this one i kind of liked. not sure how i feel about john actually having a sekrit son, altho i buy the possibility, and some of the rehashing of father-son interpersonal stuff seems kind of late in the series - i mean, better suited for s1 or s2 - but overall, i didn't totally dislike it. we've never had ghouls, for one thing, so that was kind of cool. and dean looks good in a suit. :D
i'm not 100% sure why the title, tho.
