the independent film festival boston starts tomorrow, and since they screen movies at the theater in davis square, and i've never been to a film festival, i bought a couple tickets - (500) days of summer, with joseph gordon-levitt (and how excited am i that it doesn't look like a depressing angsty movie for once) and zooey deschanel and matthew gray gubler in what is probably a very small role, and la mission which stars benjamin bratt and was directed by his brother peter, who will apparently be in the audience. (nifty!) i feel all supporty of independent movies n' stuff. i'm assuming they'll both be good movies, and i plan to pimp with pleasure after they're officially released to non-festival theaters.

i want to write that story - the dethroned king actually content with being a street sweeper. fewer responsibilities, less stress, fewer people to answer to, many fewer complications in his life, easier decisions to make. someday, someday.

it's a lemon on a windowsill. :D i just like the colors and the composition and it's a very calming, cool-summer-breeze kind of icon. i imagine the house is on an island somewhere - greece, the caribbean, i don't know - the sun's bright, the skies are blue, the clouds are fluffy, the lemon tree in the front yard is fruitful. it's my summer icon.
yay travel
the basilica di san marco, in venice. i needed a travel icon. i took this picture when i was there with cicirossi and ephemera and rafaella - every so often the lagoon rises and floods the piazza san marco. and then you get this really fabulous reflection of the basilica in the ginormous puddle that the piazza has become. (all around the piazza are cafes and stores and whatnot, with outdoor tables because, well, piazza. the cafe waiters have rubber boots in case of flood. it's oddly cute.)
bahstin
the leonard p zakim bridge, which is part of the central artery tunnel project or whatever the hell the big dig is officially called. i love this bridge. this is a gorgeous bridge. this bridge is part of a municipal transportation improvement project that has cost so much money you could buy a country with it, so it damn well better be a nice bridge. i needed a boston icon and this is an iconic bridge, so. i found the photo on flickr, but i can't remember where. and "bahstin" is, you know, "boston" with a local accent. :D

i just uploaded this one yesterday or the day before and haven't had a chance to use it. the text says "this is a story about love" altho from the actual picture it could be "this is a story about sex" or "this is a story about boys". but love is both those things. i like the monochrome and the little bit of physical intimacy, and you can imagine the story getting more explicit from here, or not. and i plan to use it for stories about love, natch.
spn - ouija hands
sam's corporeal hand and dean's ghost hand from spn 2x01, in my time of dying, in which sam uses a ouija board to try and communicate with his comatose brother. this episode made me cry. this scene almost made me cry. the icon description - "it's not the same without you, man" - is something sam tells dean's, uh, spirit. i made this one from a screencap because i didn't have any decent angsty spn icons, and i really like how their hands look guiding the planchette. i like that their knuckles are all scraped up. (the other thing i loved about this scene, aside from the circling camera which was really cool, was dean's bare feet. he's a wandering spirit in a t-shirt and scrubs for most of the episode, and i have a weakness for boys in their bare feet.)

ganesha is probably the only hindu god i know anything about, and even that isn't much. he's the god of beginnings and remover of obstacles and he rides a mouse. i mostly use this for "glee!" posts, because he looks gleeful about something out of the frame.
i know that's six. :D also kammy thinks i have a very attractive collection of sam&dean icons. positively lickable. which, yes, i say with all modesty. they're good-looking boys - it's easy to make (and find) good-looking icons.
