i discovered today that one of the baristas at starbucks used to live in north dakota. "why?" i asked. "i was in the air force," she said. "so you didn't have much choice," i said. "actuallyivolunteered," she said. "O.O" i said, and then "did you at least get something good out of it?" i asked. "i left the air force..." she said. i guess three years in north dakota was worth it. she said she knew it was time to leave when she realized that she was thinking of single-digit temperatures as warm. eeek.
yesterday i lost a button off my coat, walked around in the bright sunshine, bought a box of girl scout cookies, lost embarrassingly at curling (0-13, for which i am going to blame the fact that half my team was not there and we had subs instead), and made several very confused o.O faces at my sister. (who for some reason seemed to think that - when we're in atlanta next month for a bat mitzvah - even tho i'm not interested in seeing someone who used to be one of my best friends, i AM interested in seeing someone who was evil on two legs when i was thirteen. apparently "i was friends with her" trumps "she was a heinous bitch to me when we were little". and when my sister says she thought we could see someone we both want to see, what she really means is she wants to see someone she'd like to see, and i'll go too. the end result is that i am going to see sky_dark who i know i'll have a good time with. and my sister can do what she wants.)
...that probably doesn't make any sense to anyone besides me. i'll just say that my sister's logic can be very, uh, special sometimes, and leave it at that.
also on sunday i hit on an idea for my picfor1000 fic. apparently every other year is a flight of the phoenix year. >.< this fic would basically be an au of an au, but i don't think i'll have to poll the flist for help. and i still kind of have an rpf idea i kind of want to write. i need to make a list.
saturday i made cookies and curled in the dark, which is more fun than it sounds. we had glow sticks. we looked kind of like low-budget ravers on ice.
